  • Construct Validity of Three Self-Report Measures of Creativity

    Open Access•John W Fleenor, Sylvester Taylor•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1994

Relationships were examined among two measures of creativity level, the CPI Creativity Scale (CPI-CT) and the MBTI Creativity Index (MBTI-CI), and a measure of creativity style, the Kirton Adaption-Innovation Inventory (KAI). Scores on these scales from various managerial samples were used in the analyses. With sample sizes ranging from 431 to 12,115, significant intercorrelations were found among the three measures. Contrary to expectations, KAI…

  • A Test of the Validity of the Work Environment Inventory

    Open Access•Sylvester Taylor, Nur Gryskiewicz•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1993

The validity of the Work Environment Inventory (WEI) was tested by examining the relationship between mean ratings of WEI obstacles and stimulants to creativity scales, and perceptions of organizational creativity. The results show that those who rated their work environments as highly creative had significantly different mean scale scores on the WEI than those who rated their work environment as low in creativity. These results are consistent wi…

  • Equity and derogation of those against whom we have aggressed

    Open Access•Kellina M Craig, Edgar C O’neal et al.•ARTICLE•Aggressive Behavior•1993•References: 9

Casting the classic provocation-retaliation paradigm in an equity framework, we hypothesized that persons realizing their retribution was excessive would derogate their victim, but only when they did not anticipate an opportunity to compensate her. After retaliating against a peer who had harshly evaluated their essays, 40 female undergraduates were informed that either a serious or mild misfortune had recently been suffered by their partner, and…

  • The Context for Leadership in 21st-Century Organizations: A Role for Critical Thinking

    Open Access•Luke Novelli, Sylvester Taylor•ARTICLE•American Behavioral Scientist•1993•Cited by: 1•References: 11

Environmental turbulence" and high degrees of interdependence create dilemmas and paradoxes for organizations. Because critical thinking is a primary tool for dealing with dilemmas and paradoxes, the support and encouragement of critical thinking is a key characteristic of effective leadership processes. The context of current and future leadership challenges is described. The process approach to leadership is discussed and critical thinking is r…

  • Anger arousal, deindividuation, and aggression

    Open Access•Sylvester Taylor, S Levi Taylor et al.•ARTICLE•Aggressive Behavior•1991•References: 20

We tested the notion that angered persons' aggression would be increased through a process of excitation transfer when they are deindividuated, but that individuated subjects would be most aggressive in circumstances under which they could use the information that they had ingested an arousing drug as a pretext for their aggression. Sixty-two male undergraduates participated under either deindividuated or individuated conditions, ingested either …

  • Status of the provoker, opportunity to retaliate, and interest in video violence

    Open Access•Edgar C O’neal, Edgar C O'Neal et al.•ARTICLE•Aggressive Behavior•1989•References: 16

Two hypotheses derived from affect-dependent stimulus arrangement theory [Zillmann D, Bryant J (1985): In: “Selective Exposure to Communication.” Hillsdale, NJ: Erlbaum Associates.] were tested: (1) provoked persons will express less interest in seeing video violence than will those not provoked, unless they anticipate an opportunity to retaliate against their provocateur; and (2) when provoked persons anticipate an opportunity to retaliate again…
