Open Access•Khaled Alkhawaldeh, Signe Thorpe et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2026

Background/Objectives: Pediatric sarcomas are rare and heterogeneous malignancies for which clinical trials are essential to advance treatment and improve outcomes. • Surviving the Holocene: Human Ecological Responses to the Current Interglacial in Southern Valencia, Spain

Alexandra Miller, C Michael Barton et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Anthropological Research•2009•Cited by: 2

For hunter-gatherer groups, the dramatic changes in climate at the end of the last glacial cycle necessitated rearrangement of land use, including shifts in mobility strategies, settlement location, and resource use. We examine these behavioral changes using lithic attribute data as well as spatial distributions of artifacts and features. Using data from intensive survey and excavation, we trace human ecological response through the onset of the …

  • Changing Responsibilities and Collective Action: Examining Early North African Pastoralism

    Open Access•Alexandra Miller•ARTICLE•Archeological Papers of the…•2008•Cited by: 2•References: 9

This chapter uses the concept of an economic transition point to examine and challenge assumptions about static gender roles in pastoralist societies. The transition from a hunting-and-gathering economy to an agro-pastoralist economy would have forced North Africans to perform tasks related to both economic systems until the pastoralist way of life could be firmly established. The greater need for labor in these transitional societies would have …

  • An empirical evaluation of the case for a Châtelperronian-Aurignacian interstratification at Grotte des Fées de Châtelperron

    J Riel-Salvatore, Alexandra E Miller et al.•ARTICLE•World Archaeology•2008•Cited by: 4•References: 22

This paper addresses the recent debate surrounding claims about the presence of a small Aurignacian assemblage interstratified between Châtelperronian deposits at the site of Grotte des Fées de Châtelperron. We review the current debate and provide an assessment of the various studies that have been published in its context. As a way to evaluate whether the original claims stand irrespective of potential taphonomic disturbances at the site, we un…
