  • International and domestic external knowledge in the innovation performance of firms from transition economies

Open Access•Alicia Rodríguez, Virginia Hernández et al.•ARTICLE•Technological Forecasting and…•2022

In this study, we analyze how the acquisition of domestic and international external knowledge contributes to the innovation performance of firms in transition economies and how the institutional conditions of the home country may affect these relations. We test our hypotheses via the responses of 645 firms from 18 Central and Eastern European countries. Our findings show that both external knowledge sources—domestic and international—contribute …

  • Failed and successful innovations

Open Access•Luis Santamaría, Luis Santamaría Sánchez et al.•ARTICLE•Technological Forecasting and…•2021

We aim to clarify the role of research partnerships on the success and failure of innovation projects by examining the geographic proximity and diversity of partners. First, we argue that collaboration with geographically near partners will contribute relatively more to innovation success than it does to innovation failure, while collaboration with geographically distant partners will contribute relatively more to innovation failure than it does …

  • The hypocrisy of completeness

Cameron Mccarthy, Stephen David et al.•ARTICLE•Cultural Studies•1995

There is a scene in the cultural writings of English colonialism which repeats so insistently after the early nineteenth century — and, through that repetition, so triumphantly inaugurates a literature of empire — that I am bound to repeat it once more. It is the scenario, played out in the wild and wordless wastes of colonial India, Africa, the Caribbean, of the sudden, fortuitous discovery of the English book. (Bhabha, 1986: 163) Proof like Dou…
