The dynamic impact of financial intermediary services, institutional quality, and environmental taxation on energy poverty in South Asia
Energy poverty remains a critical challenge in South Asia, with millions lacking access to reliable and affordable electricity. This study uses an ARDL-ECM framework to examine the impacts of financial services, institutional quality, and environmental taxation on energy poverty in South Asia over the period 1995 to 2023. We find that (1) financial development significantly reduces energy poverty in the long run, but only if institutional quality…
Green Development and Grassland Conservation
Ecological imbalances and resource depletion are escalating, and thus the urgent need to implement strategies to facilitate green development and ecological preservation cannot be overstated. In this context, China's Grassland Ecological Compensation Policy (GECP) aims to protect extensive grasslands while supporting socioeconomic development. Using county‐level panel data for 1010 counties in 11 provinces from 2004 to 2021, we estimate differenc…

The positive effects of insurance on livestock production and grassland ecological benefits
In this study empirically we investigate the effects of livestock insurance on livestock production in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP), a traditional pastoral area in China, employing a dataset comprising 216 households. The Propensity Score Matching (PSM) approach is employed to correct for self-selection bias. The results show that livestock insurance has a positive and significant impact on livestock production in the QTP. Insured households a…

Consumer’s Willingness to Pay a Premium for Organic Fruits in China
The aim of the paper was to assess how consumers evaluate organic labeled fruits and to what extent they are willing to pay a premium for fresh fruits with organic labels. Willingness-to-pay a premium was modeled as a function of a series of demographic, socio-economic variables, plus fruit attributes, perceptions of fruit safety, a…
Landscape Grain Effect in Yancheng Coastal Wetland and Its Response to Landscape Changes
The landscape grain effect reflects the spatial heterogeneity of a landscape and it is used as a research core of landscape ecology. The landscape grain effect can be used to not only explore spatiotemporal variation characteristics of a landscape pattern, but also to disclose variation laws of ecological structures and functions of landscapes. In this study, the sensitivity of landscape pattern indexes to grain sizes 50-1000 m was studied based …
