Does Innovation Mediate the Relationship Between ICT Use and Competitive Advantage? Investigating the Perceptions of Practitioners in the Pharmaceutical Industry
The aim of this study is to examine whether ICT and innovation resources can be utilized to facilitate the competitiveness of both pharmaceutical firms and contract research organizations (CROs). By using structural equation modelling based on survey data collected from 683 pharmaceutical practitioners in China, we find that there is a positive relationship between ICT and competitive advantage. Innovation mediates the documented relationship. Wh…
An SEM-ANN approach to evaluate public awareness about Covid, A pathway toward adaptation effective strategies for sustainable development
This study was conducted to evaluate public awareness about COVID with aimed to check public strategies against COVID-19. A semi structured questionnaire was collected and the data was analyzed using some statistical tools (PLS-SEM) and artificial neural networks (ANN). We started by looking at the known causal linkages between the different variables to see if they matched up with the hypotheses that had been proposed. Next, for this reason, we …
Exploring barriers to, and enablers of, evidence-informed hip fracture care in five low- middle-income countries
Globally, populations are ageing and the estimated number of hip fractures will increase from 1.7 million in 1990 to more than 6 million in 2050. The greatest increase in hip fractures is predicted in Low- and Middle–Income Countries (LMICs), largely in the Asia-Pacific region where direct costs are expected to exceed $US15 billion by 2050. The aims of this qualitative study are to identify barriers to, and enablers of, evidence–informed hip frac…
Can the spending of corporate social responsibility be offset? Evidence from pharmaceutical industry
This study aims to investigate whether the costs spent on corporate social responsibility (CSR) can be offset, and identify the inflection point when financial returns from CSR exceed the spending. By using Principal Component Analysis, we developed the Carroll’s CSR model to measure actual CSR spending. Drawing on data of 315 listed pharmaceutical firms from China, the quadratic effect was used to examine the inflection point, and the panel data…
Spatial Pattern Change and Ecosystem Service Value Dynamics of Ecological and Non-Ecological Redline Areas in Nanjing, China
Ecological conservation red line (ECRL) is gaining increasing academic attention as delimiting the minimum space scope of ecological protection and the bottom line of ecological security. Taking Nanjing as a case study, we divided the territory into ecological and non-ecological redline areas (ERAs and NERAs, respectively). This paper highlights two key research issues based on the 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2018 annual remote sensing data: (i) quantit…
Convergence or Disparity? A Cross-Country Analysis of Corporate Social Responsibility Reporting for Banking Industry in Nordic Countries and China
This research investigates the corporate social responsibility (CSR) reporting for banking industry in Nordic countries and China, and compares the convergence and disparity of disclosed CSR information across these two regimes. The study encompasses a sample of eight largest commercial banks by total assets in Nordic countries and China over a 5-year period of 2013-2017. We employ a disclosure index approach to assess the contents of CSR reporti…
Metabolic Changes Induced by Bushenhuoxue Granules on Striatum and Substantia Nigra in a Rat Model of Parkinson’s Disease
Background: Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disease, while its mechanism is still unclear. Long-term levodopa-based treatment leads to decreased response or loss of response, as well as severe side effects. Our previous study has proved that Bushenhuoxue Granules have effects on Parkinson's disease, but the underlying mechanism is still need to be explored. Our research is to investigate the mechanisms of Bushenhuoxue Granules on Parki…

Traditional Chinese medicine Tongxinluo protects microvascular from arteriole spasm induced by norepinephrine in rats mesentery
Background: Arteriole spasm (AS) served as a common pathogenesis of many diseases. Tongxinluo (TXL), a traditional Chinese formula, has been proved to benefit patients with diseases associated with AS. However, the effect of TXL on AS has not been elucidated, especially on the hemorheology of microcirculation. The aim of this study was to assess the protective function of TXL against AS on microcirculation in rats’ mesentery.Materials and Methods…
Prevalence of diabetes and predictions of its risks using anthropometric measures in southwest rural areas of China
High prevalence of diabetes and prediabetes were found in this underdeveloped region. About half of total subjects with diabetes were undiagnosed. The association of obesity indices and diabetic risk factors varied with gender. The strongest predictors of diabetes were WHR for the female subgroup and WHtR for the male subgroup
