Young adult women’s meaning-making of living with type 1 diabetes: Towards growth and optimism
Objective: Type 1 diabetes is primarily researched as a medical condition; an examination of the subjective experience of it appears to be neglected. This study explored young women’s meaning-making of living with type 1 diabetes in an attempt to uncover possible positive outcomes of growth and optimism.Design: Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) enabled the in-depth exploration of the journeys of a group of young female adults living …
Life stories managing chronic illness: Young adults’ lived experiences with type 1 diabetes

Teaching Physician Decision Making in a Technical Age
Traditional medical school ethics curriculum introduces students to the concepts of patient autonomy, informed consent, and medical uncertainty, which are central to contemporary biomedical ethics and the doctor-patient relationship. New guidelines and training programs have been developed in medical education to improve patientdoctor communication and support patients' active role in the shared decisionmaking process, but there is limited eviden…
The Iran-Iraq War: A Military Analysis
Appearances, however, may be deceptive. In the course of the last year or so, Iraq has continued to make significant economic and diplomatic gains while holding its own militarily. Its clear edge in missiles and air power has made the of the cities a decidedly one-sided contest. Much more impor tantly, with its recapture of the strategic Fao peninsula April 17-18, and despite serious setbacks in the north, Iraq may have actually managed to wrest …
The Impact of Suburban Growth Restrictions on U.S. Housing Price Inflation, 1975–1978
The paper estimates a simultaneous equations model of housing price inflation 1975-1978 for a cross-section of 51 metropolitan areas. A two-stage least squares procedure is used to estimate the demand-side and supply-side determinants of price changes. One of the major sources of inflation is shown to be a variable reporting suburban growth restrictions—the fraction of potentially developed land just beyond the margin of urban settlement that is …

Observations on Three War Poems of Shmuel Ha-Nagid: A Study in Internal Poetic Cohesion
If Shmuel ben Yosef ha-Levi ibn Nagrella, better known as Shmuel ha-Nagid (938–1055), has been variously praised by his contemporaries, later medieval litterateurs and moderns as an innovative and forceful writer, his poetry qua poetry has been subjected to little close scrutiny. Three short poems have been analyzed as wholes; individual stichs illustrative of typical figures and rhetorical devices in the Hebrew poetry of Spain have been cited; d…

Are There Returns to Scale in City Size
A question central to the issue of optimal city size is whether scale economies exist in urban production. Over a third of all Americans who currently live in metropolitan areas live in one of the dozen largest. If it can be shown that these areas have a significant production advantage over the remaining ones, then welfare analysis could be applied to learn whether the extra output produced in these metropolitan areas outweighs the drawbacks of …
