Open Access•Qiuyue Zhang, Yili Lin et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2025

Corporations are under increasing pressure to adapt their strategies to mitigate the adverse effects of climate risk. This study explores the theoretical and empirical relationship between climate risk and corporate collaborative innovation, highlighting the mechanisms involved. Theoretical analysis suggests that climate risk, by intensifying stranded assets and cross-risks, acts as a compensatory driver for collaborative innovation among corpora…

Open Access•Dan Su, Yu Cao et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2025

Urban function plays a vital role in shaping environmental outcomes, yet its spatial organization remains underexplored compared to urban form. This study develops a land function connectivity index (LFCI) to quantitatively evaluate how urban land functions are spatially arranged and how they relate to environmental pollution. Using Hangzhou, China, as a case study, we examine the relationship between LFCI and PM 2.5 concentrations, a widely used…

According to the Temporal Focus Hypothesis (TFH), people’s implicit spatial conceptions are shaped by their temporal focus. Whereas previous studies have demonstrated that people’s cultural or individual differences related to certain temporal focus may influence their spatializations of time, we focus on temporal landmarks as potential additional influences on people’s space-time mappings. In Experiment 1, we investigated how personally-related …

According to the Temporal Focus Hypothesis (TFH), people's cultural attitudes toward time influence their implicit space–time mappings. According to the Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT), metaphors allow people to rely on concrete, familiar knowledge such as spatial experience to understand abstract concepts such as time. For example, many languages throughout the world tend to associate the front side of space with the future and the back side with the past. Abundant evidence has shown that people think about time according to the space-time mappings in their speech. However, rec…
