Together, alongside or against each other? A qualitative content analysis on the intersystem sensitivity of coaches and physiotherapists in German elite sport support teams
This study examines the systemic dynamic of collaboration and the role of intersystem sensitivity between coaches and physiotherapists in German elite sport support teams. Based on a heuristic that integrates theories of society, conflict, and professionalisation within the framework of Niklas Luhmann’s sociological systems theory, the study employs qualitative content analysis of expert interviews with representatives of both professional groups…

Wozu communiter ?
“Reflective practice” in physical education
Physical education (PE) is rooted in a historically evolved subject culture that goes largely unquestioned in everyday teaching and learning. It is characterized by a normative primacy of movement practices, placing it in a precarious relationship with the intellectual practices required by sports pedagogy and school curricula. The present case study is based on praxeological classroom research and examines how didactic interferences between inte…
Claim vs. Reality”—A German Case Study on Modes and Functions of Sports-Pedagogical Communication
Academic sports pedagogy continuously assures itself of its disciplinary foundations and determines its position in the structure of modern sciences. While communication is based on differences, the distinction between claim and reality plays a crucial role in sports pedagogy. However, the forms and functions in which the distinction appears have not been more closely investigated in sports pedagogic. This article starts with this in mind, exempl…
Determinants of Physical Activity and Sedentary Behavior in German Elementary School Physical Education Lessons
Physical activity (PA) in school physical education (PE) is a signature component of health promotion and health education. The study's aim was to explore PA levels and sedentary time in German elementary school PE lessons and relate them to selected personal and environmental PA determinants. Accelerometer measurements were collected from 328 students (47% male, mean age 8.7 ± 1.2 years) in 11 elementary schools in Baden-Wuerttemberg (Germany). …
Voluntary sports clubs as ‘schools of democracy’? Critique of German sports science
In Western societies, modern sports have always been subjected to diverse expectations of social benefits. One especially bold and frequently repeated claim is that voluntary sports clubs serve as ‘schools of democracy’. Based on a pragmatist framework of critique, the present study provides the first comprehensive map of evidence on this subject from German sports science, revealing limitations in the content, research methodologies, and democra…
