Attitudes to Short-Term Staffing and Workforce Priorities of Community Users of Remote Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Services: A Qualitative Study
In recent years, there has been an increasing trend of short-term staffing in remote health services, including Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs). This paper explores the perceptions of clinic users' experiences at their local clinic and how short-term staffing impacts the quality of service, acceptability, cultural safety, and continuity of care in ACCHSs in remote communities. Using purposeful and convenience sampling, co…
It's so rich, you know, what they could be experiencing: Rural Places for General Practitioner Learning
Globally there is an urban/rural divide in relation to health and healthcare access. A key strategy for addressing general practitioner shortages in rural areas is GP vocational training in rural places, as this may aid in developing practitioners’ scope, values and community orientation, and increase propensity for rural practice. This creates a need for deeper understanding of the nature and quality of this training. Rural GPs are well-position…
Rural Work and Specialty Choices of International Students Graduating from Australian Medical Schools: Implications for Policy

Domestic Gothic: Genre and Nation in Charlotte Smith's The Old Manor House
‘The Gothic novel’ is by no means a coherent entity, but it has its genesis in a turn to an imagined past. In considering late 18th‐century Gothic fiction, the impact of the broader historico‐political discourse surrounding the Gothic should be taken into account. Understanding this as a diverse and contested genre preoccupied with national history refocuses attention on a range of texts that are usually considered atypical of the Gothic, and tur…

Capturing the paradigm shift in HIV treatment: Changing attitudes in the choice of combination antiretroviral drugs by high HIV caseload Australian GPs (1996-1997)
The use of combination antiretroviral therapy for HIV infection is a rapidly changing field. To assess the impact of recent studies on prescribing patterns, two surveys of 21 high HIV caseload Australian GPs were undertaken in June 1996 and June 1997 to plot changes in the choice of combination antiviral therapy. Of the 17 GPs who responded to the survey in each year, the number of HIV-infected patients seen at their practices were estimated to b…
