A Quantitative Exploration of U.S. Citizenship and Its Relationship to Latinx Health
Drawing on public health critical race praxis and acculturation theory, this study examines how racialization and immigration status shape the self-reported health of Latinx adults. Using the 2021 California Health Interview Survey data for adult Californians ( n = 17,345) and multivariate logistic regression analyses, we find that naturalized and U.S.-born Latinxs have higher odds of being in worse health than U.S.-born white citizens. A key det…
Predicting Mental Health Care Enrollment and Treatment Uptake among Newly Arrived Refugees in U.S. Resettlement Programs
This article examines variables that predict mental health care enrollment and engagement among refugees. The authors explore a mental health care model designed to identify mental health needs early among refugee arrivals that may interfere with adjustment and overall health outcomes using data from a Midwest refugee resettlement program. Using ecological models of mental distress and theories on help-seeking behaviors, the authors used logistic…

Y el luto sigue (and the grief continues)

Purificación de la fracción antigénica 27-28 KDA a partir del antígeno metabólico secretado excretado de Fasciola hepatica
Antigenic fractions of 27-28 kDa from Fasciola hepatica were purified by size-exclusion chromatography for use in the diagnosis of human fasciolosis. Excretion and secretion antigens were obtained from living adult flukes collected from sheep and cattle liver, and cultured in minimum essential medium. The reactivity of the purified antigen and efficacy were assessed by immunoblot test using four sera with human fascioliasis; four sera with other …

"The Fractal Structure of "Pedro Páramo
This study applies the metaphor of the fractal to Juan Rulfo's enigmatic novel. It begins by focusing on the description of Pedro's death and the impact its placement at the end of the novel has on the reader. It then proceeds to identify the source of the fractal form reiterated throughout the fragments, describing it as an intense feeling of being condemned to existing in a present moment that can never attain to fullness. There is no transcend…

Magic in La Celestina
rELESTINA'S use of magic to strengthen and extend her ac-tivities as go-between has long been the subject of controversy. However, it was not until P. E. Russell published his La magia como tema integral de la Tragicomedia de Calisto y Melibea 1 that a strong case was made for its role as central to the dramatic action. The majority of critics before Russell tended to minimize the element of magic, either by writing it off as superfluous or by ig…
Food balance sheet Puerto Rico 1967–1968
The planning and development of health and nutrition programs in a nation require an adequate knowledge of existing problems, of the available resources, and of the action being taken to resolve these problems. The main purpose of this study was to develop a document which could be used as a basic design and model for the food balance sheet of Puerto Rico and other countries.
