  • Paradox of emphasizing effort: How emphasizing effort discourages pursuit of STEM fields

Zhen Wang, Guoguo Zuo et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2026

Open Access•Zhen Wang, Li Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•Psychology of Women Quarterly•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 16

Individuals’ lives depend heavily on their freedom, which is why they may respond with reactance if freedom is threatened. Our research, which spans four studies with 1,486 Chinese students as participants, from the perspective of psychological reactance theory, provides evidence that positive gender stereotypes can provoke targets’ negative reactions. In Study 1, participants who heard a speaker state a positive gender stereotype (e.g., “women a…

  • Effects of memory conversation and group identity on collective memory

Qianlin GUO, Jian Guan•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2023

However, whether the stereotype boost and threat effects can be elicited in other groups or cultures is still unclear. In Study 1, 78 Chinese science female students were primed by science-identity, female-identit…

Open Access•Bin Wang, Yanjun Chen et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

The biological treatment efficiency of dye wastewater using activated sludge (AS) is largely limited to the chromaticity and ecotoxicity of dyestuff. To alleviate this limitation, eleven industrial-grade disperse dyes were obtained from a fiber-dyeing factory, and for the first time, we studied the decolorization and detoxification effects of using the Pycnoporus laccase enzyme. Efficient decolorization was achieved with the following conditions:…
