Direct Evidence of the Geographic Origins of Horse in the Yaoheyuan Site From Ningxia, China
In this study, It is explores the geographic origin of horses by analyzing the strontium isotope ratio of horses from the Yaoheyuan site, an important site in the northwest region of China during the Western Zhou Dynasty. The results show that most of the horses at the Yaoheyuan site were domesticated locally, while a small number came from other regions. The geographic origin of horses varies in different sacrificial sites. Our research provides…
“See-Hand” and beyond
The Bai people in Jianchuan County, Northwest Yunnan, have a long history of utilizing wild macrofungi. This region is recognized as a global biodiversity hotspot; however, traditional knowledge associated with fungi remains underexplored. This study documents the ethnomycological knowledge of the Bai people, examining how vernacular names encode ecological and utilitarian information. A mixed methods approach was employed, combining semi-structu…

A Delphi Study to Construct an Index of Practice for Community Nurses Providing Transitional Home Care for Patients with Chronic Diseases
Community nurses play a key role in providing continuous home care for patients with chronic diseases. However, a perfect system of responsibilities and requirements has not yet been formed, and nurses cannot provide high-quality nursing services for home-based patients. We attempted to construct an index of the scope of practice for community nurses providing home-based transitional care for patients with chronic diseases and to guide nurses in …
An ethnoveterinary study on medicinal plants used by the Bai people in Yunlong County northwest Yunnan, China
Background The Bai people in Yunlong County, northwest Yunnan, China, have used medicinal plants and traditional remedies for ethnoveterinary practices. The Bai have mastered ethnoveterinary therapeutic methods in livestock breeding since ancient times. The Bai's traditional ethnoveterinary knowledge is now facing extinction, and their unique ethnoveterinary practices have rarely been recorded. This study documented animal diseases, EMPs, and rel…
Evaluation of iodine nutritional status during pregnancy by estimated 24-h urinary iodine excretion
Objective: To explore the accuracy of estimated 24-h urinary iodine excretion (24-h UIE est ) in assessing iodine nutritional status. Design: Fasting venous blood, 24-h and spot urine samples were collected during the day. The urinary iodine concentration (UIC) and urinary creatinine concentration (UCrC) were measured, and the urinary iodine-to-creatinine ratio (UI/Cr), 24-h UIE est , and 24-h urinary iodine excretion (24-h UIE) were calculated. …
Trypsin Binding with Copper Ions Scavenges Superoxide
Trypsin is a serine protease, which has been proved to be a novel superoxide scavenger. The burst of superoxide induced by polychlorinated biphenyls can be impeded by trypsin in both wild type and sod knockout mutants of Escherichia coli . The experimental results demonstrated that the activities of superoxide scavenging of trypsin were significantly accelerated by Cu ions. Also, with the addition of Cu ions, a new β-sheet (β7) transited from a r…
