The association of the triglyceride-glucose index and its changes with 5-year all-cause mortality in patients with depression
The TyG index is linked with a 5-year all-cause mortality risk among patients suffering from depression. The dynamic fluctuations in the TyG index could potentially offer more substantial insights in identifying patients at high risk for all-cause mortality
Unhealthy lifestyle patterns and depressive and anxiety symptoms among Chinese adolescents with or without obesity
This study aimed to identify different patterns of unhealthy lifestyle among Chinese adolescents with or without obesity and to assess the association between unhealthy lifestyle patterns and depressive and anxiety symptoms. A total of 32,046 adolescents aged 11-19 years were included in this study. We observed different patterns of lifestyle in adolescents with or without obesity. The associations between different patterns of unhealthy lifestyl…
Associations between social support and proactive health behaviours among Chinese adolescents
Increased social support was associated with better proactive health behaviours in Chinese adolescents. Additionally, higher self-efficacy and positive peer relationships enhanced this association. Our findings emphasised the significance of providing supportive environments at home and at school to promote proactive health behaviours in adolescents
Trends in obesity and severe obesity prevalence in the United States from 1999 to 2018
Background The national obesity epidemic and trend of obesity prevalence have been characterized by a series of cross‐sectional surveys in the United States, however, less is known about obesity prevalence trajectory by birth cohort. This study aimed to investigate whether trends in obesity and severe obesity prevalence varied by birth cohorts among 1940s–1990s in the United States. Methods Using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examin…
Distinct Patterns of Urban-Rural and Sex Disparities in Children's BMI Trajectories From 2013 to 2018
Background: To identify distinct trajectories of body mass index (BMI) in a large sample of Chinese children by urban-rural and sex disparities. Methods: Data for this study were obtained from the National Surveys on Chinese Students' Constitution and Health among 16,060 children aged 6–11 years. Weight and height data were used to calculate BMI. Group-based trajectory modeling (GBTM) was used to identify distinct BMI trajectories. Results: Seven…
Association of Cesarean Birth with Body Mass Index Trajectories in Adolescence
Background: This study aimed to identify patterns of body mass index (BMI) changes in adolescence and to assess whether delivery mode (Cesarean and vaginal delivery) was associated with BMI trajectories. Methods: This study was conducted among 569 adolescents aged 10-15 years that resided in the city of Zibo, China. The height and weight of each participant were repeatedly measured at 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 years. Group based trajectory modeli…
Prevalence of overweight and obesity in Chinese children and adolescents from 2015
Obesity was much worse in children than adolescents in China; future studies are warranted to understand why these differences may be occurring
Linoleic acid and breast cancer risk
Objective Prior studies on linoleic acid, the predominant n -6 fatty acid, and breast cancer risk have generated inconsistent results. We performed a meta-analysis to summarize the evidence regarding the relationship of dietary and serum linoleic acid with breast cancer risk. Design Pertinent studies were identified by a search of PubMed and EMBASE. The fixed- or random-effect pooled measure was selected based on between-study heterogeneity. Resu…
