  • Mitochondrial DNA (CA)n dinucleotide repeats in Muslims from South India

    Open Access•Somayyeh Samehsalari, K Rajasekhara Reddy•ARTICLE•International Journal of Modern…•2019

We have studied the variability of the CA repeats in HVIII region of mitochondrial DNA among 60 unrelated Muslims of Srirangapatna town, Karnataka state in South India. MtDNA HVIII region was amplified and sequenced by Sanger sequencing method. A total of four alleles [(CA)4 to (CA)7 ] were detected and (CA)5 rCRS repeat was the most frequently defined repeat followed by (CA)4 28%, (CA)6 16%, (CA)7 15%. A statistical estimate indicated a high gen…

  • Application control region of human mitochondrial DNA in forensic anthropology

    Open Access•Somayyeh Samehsalari, K Rajasekhara Reddy•ARTICLE•International Journal of Modern…•2018

Mitochondrial genome has particular features that make it a valuable forensic marker; first of all it is present in each somatic cell in high numbers. Therefore, it is more resistant to degradation and more stable under unfavorable conditions than nuclear DNA (nDNA) in highly damaged, degraded or very small quantity of the samples. Secondly, the high mutation rate, lack of recombination and the maternal mode of inheritance are features which make…

  • The Study of ABO and Rh (D) Blood Groups among the Vishwakarma Population of Mysore District in Karnataka, India

    Open Access•M L Dore Raj, K Rajasekhara Reddy•ARTICLE•The Anthropologist•2010•Cited by: 1

The data for the present study consist of 143 unrelated individuals among the Vishwakarma population of Mysore District in Karnataka. Among the A, B, O alleles, frequencies O allele (0.5921) is proportionately higher than the Aallele (0.2126) as well as B allele (0.1952). The comparison of the present study with other caste and tribes of Karnataka populations depicts relatively the lower O allele frequency than the most of other populations of Ka…

  • A Study on Palmar C-Line Polymorphism Among the Scheduled Madigas of Andhra Pradesh, India

    Open Access•K Rajasekhara Reddy•ARTICLE•The Oriental Anthropologist A…•2005

  • ABO and Rh (D) Blood Groups Among the Vishwakarmas of Mysore District, Karnataka

    Open Access•S C Jai Prabhakar, M R Gangadhar et al.•ARTICLE•The Anthropologist•2005•Cited by: 2

Base line data are presented on frequency distribution of the ABO and Rh (D) blood groups among the Vishwakarma population of Hosahundi village Mysore district, Karnataka. In the ABO blood system O recorded the highest incidence, followed by B group. The Rh negative frequency was found 3.19

  • Anthropometric Study among the Adikarnatakas of Mysore City, Karnataka

    Open Access•M R Gangadhar, K Rajasekhara Reddy•ARTICLE•The Anthropologist•2001

The present study reveals that majority of the Adik arnataka males come under short stature and females fall under upper medium stature categories. Sitting height vertex measurement shows that higher proportion of males and females belongs to lower medium and tall categories respectively. A higher proportion of both males and females belongs to very narrow type of bizygomatic breadth. The dolicocephalic element was predominantly found in males wh…

  • ABO and Rh(D) Blood Groups Among the Adikarnatakas of Karnataka

    Open Access•M R Gangadhar, K Rajasekhara Reddy•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•2001•Cited by: 1

Data are presented on frequency distribution of the ABO and Rh(D) blood groups among the Adikamatakas, a Scheduled Caste Population of Mysore City in Karnataka State In the ABO blood group system O group recorded the highest incidence, followed by B group The incidence of Rh(D) 3.16%, which is in agreement with the majority of the other caste as well as tribal population of this south Indian state

  • Morphological Variation of Certain Traits Among The Scheduled Caste Madigas of Andhra Pradesh

    Open Access•K Rajasekhara Reddy, V Rami Reddy•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•1997•References: 1

The paper reports the morphological variation of carlobe types. cleft chin, hypertrichosis of (he ear and eyebrow types among the two Madiga groups, belonging to (he same sub-caste of Gampadhompti Madigas: Madigas at Cuddapah District (MDCDP) and Madigas of Chitoor District (MDCTR). The proportion of persons with attached carlobe is lower in MDCDP (26.22%) than in MDCTR (38.79%). with highly significant sex difference in the latter group. The ove…
