  • A Discrete Choice Experiment of Older Self-Funders’ Preferences When Navigating Community Social Care

Open Access•Rowan Jasper, Stuart Wright et al.•ARTICLE•Health & Social Care in the…•2023•References: 1

Most long-term care systems (social care) for older people rely on some means testing, copayment system, private insurance, or other non-governmental funding to supplement state provision. In England, an estimated quarter of homecare delivery is funded privately. For many older people, the absence of state funding for their care is only part of the problem: they are also expected to search for care in a market characterised by complexity, plurali…

  • Travelogue pour un Marco Polo [My Travels with Claude]: A journey through the composer’s life and work in 10 days

    Open Access•Stephen Rogers•ARTICLE•Circuit Musiques contemporaines•2008•References: 1

In his article, Stephen Rogers puts forward an interpretation of the work of Claude Vivier and its particular relationship(s) with travel. It is a reflective work which aims less at analysis than description. Those familiar with the techniques and gestures which Vivier used to create his music will recognize some of the same techniques applied in Rogers’ paper to the written rather than the sonic world

  • The epidemiology of good nutritional status among children from a population with a high prevalence of malnutrition

Open Access•Jane A Pryer, Stephen Rogers et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2004

Objectives: To identify socio-economic demographic and environmental factors that predict better height-for-age for children under 5 years of age in a Dhaka slum population. Socio-economic, demographic and environmental variables were collected monthly by questionnaire and nutritional status was assessed. Setting: Dhaka slums in Bangladesh. Subjec…

  • Factors affecting nutritional status in female adults in Dhaka slums, Bangladesh

Jane A Pryer, Stephen Rogers et al.•ARTICLE•Biodemography and Social Biology•2003•Cited by: 1•References: 9

This study looks at women from the slums in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh, where 54 percent of women's BMI was less than 18.5. Fifty percent of the Dhaka slum population lived below the poverty line. Logistic regression showed that women with income above 1,500 taka per capita were 1.78 times more likely to have a higher BMI (odds ratio 1.7863; CI = 0.671-3.639). Women with their own savings were 1.89 times more likely to have higher BMI (odds r…

Eight thousand two hundred and one newborn infants were registered in 1988, approximately 77% of all children born in that year. The risk of death by age 2 was determined from reports given by the mother on the present status of a previously born child at the time of a recent deliver…

  • Anencephalus, Spina Bifida, twins, and teratoma

    Stephen Rogers, S C Rogers•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•1976•References: 12

The twin pairs with spina bifida and or anencephalus collected from the literature by Rogers and Weatherall (1976) form the basis for an argument that the apparent rarity of dizygous twins concordant for these malformations may be due to the breakdown of the interamniotic partition and a subsequent fetus-fetus interaction. It is suggested that this may lead to complete or partial destruction of one twin. When cells survive they may form teratoma …
