Hair mineralograms in children with autism spectrum disorders
BACKGROUND: Autism spectrum disorders are often accompanied by comorbid somatic conditions, which necessitates the development of reliable methods of predictive diagnostics. The analysis of hair elemental composition, which reflects long-term metabolic status, can identify individual micronutrient imbalances and enable the development of personalized correction plans to prevent related health disorders. AIM: This work aimed to evaluate the potent…
Assessment of elemental imbalance in women from a goiter-endemic region
BACKGROUND: The presence of a persistent goiter endemic in the northern region of Russian Federation (Magadan) highlights the significance of this study. Endemic goiter is considered a manifestation of regional biogeochemical maladaptation, where the primary role in thyroid hyperplasia development is attributed to environmental goitrogens and macro- and microelement imbalances.AIM: To evaluate elemental imbalance using an integral indicator, whic…
Far North residents’ age-related peculiarities based on construction of functional state matrices
BACKGROUND: Living in Russias Far North contributes to pronounced natural and social characteristics that exert an unfavorable influence on the human functional state.AIM: This study assessed medical, physiological, and social factors determining the body functional state in northerners of different age groups.METHODS: The research involved male residents of Magadan region, Caucasians by origin: 156 young men aged 1721 (18.50.6) years, 56 men of …
Bio substrate microelement concentrations in young men - residents of the Far North - under increased physical exercises
BACKGROUND: High-level athletic competitions necessitate more strenuous physical activity and this upsets the bodys chemistry balance. Numerous mechanisms are in place during sports to adapt to regular physical activity, but as a result, the body is progressively stressed out as it experiences a high loss in the bio-elements associated with intense exercise.AIM: to thoroughly analyze the chemical profiles of athletes residing in the city of Magad…
Hair Microelement Profile in Young Aborigenal- And Caucasian Men in the Chukotka Autonomous District (Arctic Russia)
The aim is to assess hair macro- and microelement profile of young men - residents of the city of Anadyr, Chukotka Autonomous District Arctic Russia among indigenous and Caucasoid populations. Methods: atomic emission spectrometry and inductively coupled argon plasma mass spectrometry we used to assess concentrations of 25 elements, namely, Al, As, B, Be, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, I, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, P, Pb, Se, Si, Sn, V, Zn in the hair o…
Regional Peculiarities of Trace Elements' Content in Old Females in Magadan
To examine the content of 25 macro- and trace elements in hair samples of females at elderly and old age, the methods of atom emission and mass-spectrometry with inductively bonded argon plasma were used. Elements' content in both examined groups did not show statistically important differences (p > 0.05), except Si, which content was 2.5 times lower in the group of the old women. Ca, Cr, Cu, Mg, Mn, P, Si, Zn content was lower, while Al, As, B, …
