International Development Cooperation Policies for Persons with Disabilities in Africa through Vocational Training Schools
본 연구는 아프리카 지역의 교육 분야 ODA 사업 중 장애인을 대상으로 한 직업훈련학교 프로그램의 효과와 필요성을 분석하기 위하여, (사)한국국제기아대책기구의 ‘우간다 서부지역 지체장애인 직업훈련학교 지원 및 장애인식 개선 사업’을 사례로 선정하여 분석을 진행하였다. 장애인은 신체적, 물리적 제약 뿐 아니라 사회적 고정관념과 편견으로 인하여 구조적 약자의 지위에서 벗어나기 어려운 현실에 직면해 있다. 따라서 장애인들의 경제적 역량을 강화하는 동시에 장애인들에 대한 인식을 개선할 수 있는 정책 마련이 요구되나, 개발도상국이나 취약국에서는 장애 관련 정책이 우선순위로 선정되기 어렵다. 이에 본 연구는 아프리카 지역에서 장애인을 대상으로 하는 국제개발협력 사업의 필요성을 강조하며, 특히 직업훈련학교가 장애인에게 전문지식과 기술 습득의 기회를 제공할 뿐 아니라 비장애인과의 상호 작용 공간을 조성함으로써…
The Hybrid Identity of West African Women
본 논문은 서아프리카 여성의 혼종적 정체성이 이슬람 질서와 식민 권력, 그리고 수피즘의 종교적 전통이 교차하는 역사적 맥락 속에서 어떻게 형성되고 재구성되었는지를 탐구한다. 연구의 초점은 식민 이전의 전통적 여성상, 19세기 이슬람 지하드를 통해 제도화된 종교 질서, 그리고 식민 통치가 도입한 근대적 규율이 여성의 주체성 형성과 사회적 역할 인식에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는가에 있다. 이슬람 지하드는 수피 교단을 기반으로 한 종교 정화 운동으로서, 여성에게 도덕적 규율과 경건함을 요구하는 동시에 교육과 신앙 실천을 통한 새로운 주체성의 가능성을 열어주었다. 이후 식민 지배는 이슬람 질서와 전통을 통치 수단으로 이용하며 여성의 사회적 위치를 재편했지만, 여성들은 이슬람적 윤리와 근대적 변화의 틈새에서 혼종적 정체성을 스스로 구성해 나갔다. 본 연구는 스튜어트 홀의 정체성 구성 이론과 호미 바바의 혼종성…

일반적으로 ‘사하라 이남 아프리카(Sub-Saharan Africa)의 이슬람’은 중동과 북아프리카를 아우르는 ‘아랍의 이슬람’과는 변별되는 경향이 있다. 지리적으로 이슬람의 주변부이며, 이 지역의 토착 종교와 문화가 이슬람의 수용과정에서 혼종적 특성을 배태했기 때문이다. 사하라 이남 아프리카 이슬람에는 영성과 금욕 등 체험과 정서적 요소를 강조하는 신비주의 종파인 수피가 근간을 이루고 있는데, 이는 노래와 춤, 명상, 주문을 비롯한 수피 교단의 다양한 의례가 이 지역 사람들에게 종교적, 문화적 동질감을 안겨주었기 때문이다. 사하라 이남 아프리카에 수피가 출현한 시점에 대해서는 다양한 주장이 있으나, 이 지역에서 체계화된 교단의 모습을 갖추며 종파의 세(勢)를 확장한 주역으로는 18세기 티자니아 교단이 꼽힌다. 그러나 티자니야는 수피의 한 분파임에도 불구하고 신비주의에 경도된 다른 수피 교단들과…
