Caffeine Consumption among Adults on Benzodiazepine Therapy: United States 1988–1994
The concomitant use of benzodiazepines and caffeine was studied to learn if caffeine consumption varied as a function of benzodiazepine use. Caffeine may antagonize the effects of benzodiazepine and even relatively small amounts can aggravate symptoms associated with anxiety disorders. Missiological Reflections On Celtic Christianity
The cultural context of contemporary western culture suggests that people continue to demonstrate strong religious and superstitious beliefs. Many suggest that pre-Christian religions such as Druidry, Asatru and Wicca (although debatable as a pre-Christian religion) are successfully confronting the west European context. SIXTY is a truly splendid number. Unlike the less obliging hundred, a standard unit in our way of counting, it is divisible by the consecutive L numbers two, three, four, five, and six, not to mention that it can be expressed in terms of both dozens and scores. In fact, there is a great deal to be said in favor of the sexagesimal system. It is small wonder that the wise Chinese favored the flexible sixty by combining the decimal cycle of ten stem…
Early Western-Style Paintings in Japan
Impact, influence, and cultural contribution are terms notoriously difficult to assess, as regards both quantity and quality, when studying transcultural relations between two civilisations. To make one’s point, there is always a tendency to exaggerate the effect that a culture has had upon another society, to see ideal results that perhaps were not nearly so significant as might be fondly supposed. Such a danger is certainly present in the study…

I T is an ironic fact of history that of the Europeans to visit Japan in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the English stayed the shortest time (a mere ten years), but left an immense amount of documents recording their experience. Both the English and the Dutch have bequeathed us richly informative records that help to deepen our understanding of Japan at that time. In contrast, the Portuguese merchants traded in Japan for practically a c…
