  • Assessing the paradox between development and preservation: A study on the coupling and coordination degree of morphology, function, and behavior in historic districts

Open Access•Jing Huang, Ruiming Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Urban Management•2026

The paradox between historic preservation and urban development poses a significant challenge to the sustainable revitalization of historic districts. This study proposes a quantitative and spatially explicit framework that combines diachronic analysis of historic street morphology with a coupling coordination degree (CCD) model, Multiscale Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) and GeoDetector. Using Old Chengnan in Nanjing as a case, we trac…

  • Effects of virtual reality learning contexts on foreign language word production: Behavioral and EEG evidence

Cong Liu, Qiuxia Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2026

  • The effect of L2 proficiency on L1 and L2 embodied effects in a bilingual context

Open Access•Yuying Xiao, Si Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Language and Cognition•2026•References: 28

Studies on bilingual individuals indicate that both first-language (L1) and second-language (L2) processing recruit linguistic and simulation systems, with L1 processing typically showing greater activation of simulation systems (often referred to as preference systems) and L2 processing relying more heavily on linguistic systems. When bilingual speakers switch between languages, the language used initially may influence the activation of prefere…

  • The role of prosodic sensitivity and executive functions in L2 reading: The moderated mediation effect

Open Access•Lan Fang, Weilin Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Bilingualism Language and Cognition•2025

Prosody refers to stress and intonation patterns in a language. Previous studies have found that prosodic sensitivity (PS) and executive functions can affect reading comprehension in first (L1) and second languages (L2). The current study examined these factors among a group of L1 Mandarin speakers learning L2 English who participated in a series of tasks measuring phonological awareness, Mandarin tone sensitivity, English PS, along with three sp…

  • Episodic simulation in immoral behavior: Inflation or inhibition

Open Access•Yedong Wang, Yunhan Wang et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of General Psychology•2025•References: 2

Although extensive research has examined immoral behavior, little is known about how the role of episodic simulation plays on immoral behavior. Two experiments adopted the text priming paradigm to verify two opposing theories-the imagination inflation hypothesis and the imagination inhibition hypothesis. To be specific, this study investigated whether episodic simulation increases or decreases participants' general willingness to immoral behavior…

To resolve the issues, we recruited deaf …

  • The influence of language and context on sensorimotor simulation of concrete concepts

Rubin SHI, Jiushu Xie et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2022

How concepts are represented in the brain is an important topic in cognitive science. There are two different theories on this research question, i.e., propositional symbol theory and perceptual symbol theory. The difference between these two theories is how to treat the relationship between the internal symbol and the external archetype. The propositional symbol theory holds that the relationship between the two is arbitrary. Perceptual informat…

  • The Bi-processing Theory of Text Comprehension and Experimental Evidences: The Bi-processing Theory of Text Comprehension and Experimental Evidences

Lei Mo, Ruiming Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2013
