  • Heterogeneous frailty and the expression of linear enamel hypoplasia in a genealogical population

    Open Access•Julie Lawrence, C M Stojanowski et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 81

OBJECTIVES: Linear enamel hypoplasia (LEH) is a common skeletal marker of physiological stress (e.g., malnutrition or illness) that is studied within and across populations, without reference to familial risk. We examine LEH prevalence in a population with known genealogical relationships to determine the potential influence of genetic heritability and shared environment. METHODS: LEH data of 239 individuals from a single population were recorded…

  • A longitudinal study of parental discipline up to 5 years

Julie Lawrence, Jillian J Haszard et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Family Studies•2019•Cited by: 4•References: 1

This study focuses on parental discipline techniques up to 5 years and how these change over time. A cohort of 723 mothers and fathers indicated the frequency with which they used 14 different discipline strategies during the previous week when their child was aged 6, 12, 18, 24, 42 and 60 months of age. Associations between the use of these strategies and a range of demographic, family and child factors (including depression, family quality of l…

  • Eating frequency in relation to BMI in very young children: A longitudinal analysis

Open Access•Rachael W Taylor, Ella Iosua et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2017

Objective Eating less frequently is associated with increased obesity risk in older children but data are potentially confounded by reverse causation, where bigger children eat less often in an effort to control their weight. Longitudinal data, particularly in younger children, are scarce. We aimed to determine whether eating frequency (meals and snacks) at 2 years of age is associated with past, current or subsequent BMI. Design Cohort analysis …

  • Three-year follow-up of a randomised controlled trial to reduce excessive weight gain in the first two years of life: Protocol for the POI follow-up study

    Open Access•Rachael W Taylor, Anne-Louise M Heath et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2016

    ClinicalTrials.gov number NCT00892983

  • Family discipline incidents: An analysis of parental diaries

Marianne Kremer, Anne B Smith et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Family Studies•2010•Cited by: 4

This study focuses on day-to-day parental disciplinary techniques, what provokes their use with their preschool children, and their outcome. Two hundred and seven parental diary anecdotes of disciplinary incidents with under five-year-old children, were analysed to determine the sequence of events. Children’s disruptive/aversive behaviour was the antecedent for a parental intervention in one third of the incidents, while making a demand occurred …
