Saddle Motifs Deployed in Indefinitely Extendible Helical Continuities
In my series of saddle-motif sculptures (Figs 2 and 3), I deployed saddle-form modules in spiral progression around the longitudinal axis of each work. Evolving an Aesthetic of Surface Economy in Sculpture
The author discusses the development of his sculpture, over a period of several decades, as an intuitive art of visual mathematics. He describes in detail a recent motif cycle in which locally minimal surfaces are deployed in toroids.
