Pushing Boundaries: Building a Community of Practice at the Intersection of Human Rights and Economics
One criticism of the human rights framework is that it has not – and therefore, some argue, cannot – meaningfully contest the hegemony of neoliberal economic thinking. The Guiding Principles on Human Rights Impact Assessments of Economic Reforms envision a policymaking process based on sound empirical evidence, so that the proportionality and legitimacy of reforms can be ‘properly’ assessed.
