  • A consensus-based transparency checklist

    Open Access•Balazs Aczel, Barnabas Szaszi et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Human Behaviour•2019•Cited by: 4•References: 8

We present a consensus-based checklist to improve and document the transparency of research reports in social and behavioural research. An accompanying online application allows users to complete the form and generate a report that they can submit with their manuscript or post to a public repository

  • Author Correction: A consensus-based transparency checklist

  • Variability and Coupling of Olfactory Identification and Episodic Memory in Older Adults

    Open Access•Jamie Knight, Jamie E Knight et al.•ARTICLE•The Journals of Gerontology…•2018•References: 1

BSIT and EM fluctuate together over measurement occasions, particularly for individuals with AD pathology. Repeated intraindividual measurements provide information that could lead to early detection and inexpensive monitoring of accumulating AD pathology

  • Years of Cognitive Aging Theory

Norman D Anderson, Nicole D Anderson et al.•ARTICLE•The Journals of Gerontology…•2017

OBJECTIVES: The objectives of this Introduction to the Journal of Gerontology: Psychological Sciences special issue on "50 Years of Cognitive Aging Theory" are to provide a brief overview of cognitive aging research prior to 1965 and to highlight significant developments in cognitive aging theory over the last 50 years. METHOD: Historical and recent theories of cognitive aging were reviewed, with a particular focus on those not directly covered b…

  • The benefits associated with volunteering among seniors: A critical review and recommendations for future research

    Norman D Anderson, Nicole D Anderson et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Bulletin•2014

There is an urgent need to identify lifestyle activities that reduce functional decline and dementia associated with population aging. The goals of this article are to review critically the evidence on the benefits associated with formal volunteering among older adults, propose a theoretical model of how volunteering may reduce functional limitations and dementia risk, and offer recommendations for future research. Database searches identified 11…

  • The toronto mindfulness scale: Development and validation

    Open Access•Mark A Lau, Scott R Bishop et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Clinical Psychology•2006

In this study, the authors both developed and validated a self-report mindfulness measure, the Toronto Mindfulness Scale (TMS). In Study 1, participants were individuals with and without meditation experience. Results showed good internal consistency and two factors, Curiosity and Decentering. Most of the expected relationships with other constructs were as expected. The TMS scores increased with increasing mindfulness meditation experience. In S…

  • Mindfulness: A proposed operational definition.

    Open Access•Scott R Bishop, Mark A Lau et al.•ARTICLE•Clinical Psychology: Science and…•2004

There has been substantial interest in mindfulness as an approach to reduce cognitive vulnerability to stress and emotional distress in recent years. However, thus far mindfulness has not been defined operationally. This paper describes the results of recent meetings held to establish a consensus on mindfulness and to develop conjointly a testable operational definition. We propose a two-component model of mindfulness and specify each component i…

  • The effects of divided attention on encoding and retrieval processes in human memory.

Fergus I M Craik, Richard Govoni et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Experimental…•1996

The authors examined the effects of divided attention (DA) at encoding and retrieval in free recall, cued recall, and recognition memory in 4 experiments. Lists of words or word pairs were presented auditorily and recalled orally; the secondary task was a visual continuous reaction-time (RT) task with manual responses. At encoding, DA was associated with large reductions in memory performance, but small increases in RT; trade-offs between memory …
