  • Challenges in creating herd immunity to Sars-CoV-2 infection by mass vaccination

Open Access•Roxanne Marie Anderson, Roy M Anderson et al.•ARTICLE•The Lancet•2020

  • How will country-based mitigation measures influence the course of the Covid-19 epidemic?

Open Access•Roxanne Marie Anderson, Roy M Anderson et al.•ARTICLE•The Lancet•2020

  • HIV Decline Associated with Behavior Change in Eastern Zimbabwe

Open Access•Sarah Gregson, Simon Gregson et al.•ARTICLE•Science•2006

Few sub-Saharan African countries have witnessed declines in HIV prevalence, and only Uganda has compelling evidence for a decline founded on sexual behavior change. We report a decline in HIV prevalence in eastern Zimbabwe between 1998 and 2003 associated with sexual behavior change in four distinct socioeconomic strata. HIV prevalence fell most steeply at young ages—by 23 and 49%, respectively, among men aged 17 to 29 years and women aged 15 to…

  • Sexual mixing patterns and sex-differentials in teenage exposure to HIV infection in rural Zimbabwe

Open Access•Sarah Gregson, Simon Gregson et al.•ARTICLE•The Lancet•2002

  • Apostles and Zionists

Sarah Gregson, Simon Gregson et al.•ARTICLE•Population Studies•1999•Cited by: 20•References: 1

Religion has acted as a brake on demographic transition in a number of historical and contemporary populations. In a study in two rural areas of Zimbabwe, we found substantial differences in recent demographic trends between Mission and Independent or "Spirit-type" churches. Birth rates are higher in some Spirit-type churches and, until recently, infant mortality was also higher. Recent increases in mortality were seen within Mission churches but…

  • Is there evidence for behaviour change in response to Aids in rural Zimbabwe

    Open Access•Sarah Gregson, Tom Zhuwau et al.•ARTICLE•Social Science & Medicine•1998•Cited by: 24•References: 3

  • Assessing the Potential Impact of the HIV-1 Epidemic on Orphanhood and the Demographic Structure of Populations in sub-Saharan Africa

Sarah Gregson, Simon Gregson et al.•ARTICLE•Population Studies•1994•Cited by: 2

Much of the debate on the demographic consequences of the HIV epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa has so far centred around the plausibility of population declines in areas where unprecendently high rates of population growth have recently been in evidence. In this article, the authors use a mathematical model, which combines epidemiological and demographic processes, to illustrate how, under a broad range of impacts on population growth, major change…

  • Some aspects of sexual behaviour and the potential demographic impact of aids in developing countries

    Open Access•Roxanne Marie Anderson, Roy M Anderson•ARTICLE•Social Science & Medicine•1992•Cited by: 5•References: 17

  • Infectious Diseases of Humans

Roxanne Marie Anderson, Roy M Anderson et al.•BOOK•Infectious diseases of humans•1991

This book combines mathematical models with extensive use of epidemiological and other data, to achieve a better understanding of the overall dynamics of populations of pathogens or parasites and their human hosts. The authors thus provide an analytical framework for evaluating public health strategies aimed at controlling or eradicating particular infections. With rising concern for programmes of primary health care against such diseases as meas…
