  • Think Outside and Inside the Box: The Role of Dual-Pathway Divergent Thinking in Creative Idea Generation

    David R Peterson, Marshall W Pattie•ARTICLE•Creativity Research Journal•2024

The Dual Pathway to Creativity Model theorizes that creative performance arises from cognitive flexibility, persistence, or a combination of the two. Existing research has only examined these pathways independently, limiting our understanding of the model and of how people generate ideas. We extend the DPCM model by predicting that creative output arises from the generation of response sets containing both highly related (persistence pathway) and…

  • Let’s Look at This Another Way: How Supervisors Can Help Subordinates Manage the Threat of Relationship Conflict

    Open Access•Chase E Thiel, Jennifer A Griffith et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Leadership &…•2018•Cited by: 1•References: 19

Despite decades of scholarly and practitioner attention on conflict management, few studies have addressed the important role that supervisors play in managing relationship conflict (RC). The current research addresses this gap by investigating the use of supervisory interpersonal emotion management in helping subordinates manage perceptions of RC. Examining RC through a threat framework, we propose that when individuals perceive RC in their work…

  • The Iran “Threat” In a Kafkaesque World

    Edward S Herman, D Peterson et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Palestine Studies•2012•Cited by: 2

From June 2003 to August 2012, the International Atomic Energy Agency published thirty-eight full written reports on Iran's nuclear program and conducted numerous inspections in the country. Yet although the Agency has never determined that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons, Iran has never been able to free itself from the relentless U.S. campaign against its nuclear program. This article shows how the United States has mobilized the multilateral …

  • Leadership of scientists and engineers: A three‐vector model

    Open Access•Issac C Robledo, David R Peterson et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Organizational Behavior•2011•Cited by: 4•References: 2

Existing models have not adequately accounted for the leadership of scientists and engineers engaged in creative work. In this Incubator , we present a model of creative leadership of scientists and engineers and argue that such leaders should possess expertise in three vectors. Implications and directions for future research are discussed. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd

  • Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Propaganda System

    David Peterson, David R Peterson•ARTICLE•Monthly Review•2010

Elsewhere we have written that the breakup of Yugoslavia "may have been the most misrepresented series of major events over the past twenty years." But the far bloodier and more destructive invasions, insurgencies, and civil wars that have ravaged several countries in the Great Lakes region of Central Africa over the same years may have been subjected to even greater misrepresentation. To a remarkable degree, all major sectors of the Western esta…

  • The Dismantling of Yugoslavia (Part I): A Study in In humanitarian Intervention (and a Western Liberal-Left Intellectual and Moral Collapse)

Edward S Herman, David Peterson et al.•ARTICLE•Monthly Review•2007

The breakup of Yugoslavia provided the fodder for what may have been the most misrepresented series of major events over the past twenty years. The journalistic and historical narratives that were imposed upon these wars have systematically distorted their nature, and were deeply prejudicial, downplaying the external factors that drove Yugoslavia's breakup while selectively exaggerating and misrepresenting the internal factors. Perhaps no civil w…

  • The Dismantling of Yugoslavia (Part II)

Edward S Herman, David Peterson et al.•ARTICLE•Monthly Review•2007

A striking feature of U.S. policy since the collapse of the Soviet deterrent is the frequency with which it relies on the Security Council and the Secretariat for its execution—before the fact when it can (Iraq 1990–91), but after the fact when it must (as in the cases of postwar Kosovo and post-invasion Afghanistan and Iraq). Even though the Security Council never authorized these last three major U.S. aggressions, in each case the United States…
