Nighttime temperature and sleep duration in the Chinese population
Ambient temperature influences sleep by modulating circadian thermoregulation. However, limited evidence exists regarding how extreme nighttime temperatures affect sleep in Chinese real-world settings. We collected 1,245,817 sleep records from 7,682 participants between 2017 and 2019 using wearable devices. Hourly temperature data were obtained from the land component of the fifth generation of European Re-Analysis. We adopted the hot night exces…
Repeat collaboration and scientific innovation
This study explores how collaboration dynamics influence scientific innovation in Physics, Chemistry, and Physiology or Medicine by analyzing the evolving ego networks of Nobel laureates. Using data from the Microsoft Academic Graph and an updated Nobel laureate dataset (1900–2024), we quantify collaboration patterns through collaboration length and cumulative coauthorship strength within dynamic ego networks. Innovation is measured via four fiel…
Trade Disintegration and Agri‐Food Trade
This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the impact of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) on the United Kingdom's agri‐food trade post‐Brexit. Utilising a difference in differences (DiD) methodology, we find a significant decline in both the value and quantity of UK agri‐food exports and imports post‐TCA, with prices increasing due to additional trade costs imposed by worsened market access and additional border checks. This disrupt…
Differential interactive effects of learning from success/failure and organizational cultures on approach/avoidance job crafting and job performance
The notion of learning leading to job crafting and subsequently enhancing job performance is quite established. However, a deeper investigation into the effects of learning from success/failure on approach/avoidance job crafting and subsequent job performance, and how certain cultural contexts render these effects more or less salient is lacking. We conducted a two‐wave survey study on 214 unique supervisor‐employee dyads. The results show some d…
He Youzhi's comic strip culture from the perspective of Toynbee's historical philosophy
This article combines case analysis methods to analyze He Youzhi's reflection of social reality and the integration of traditional and modern values in his comic book creation through historical narrative techniques. The aim is to explore how artists use their works as a medium for cultural inheritance and historical reflection in specific historical contexts. Toynbee's "Challenge and Response" theory provides an important framework for understan…
A Survey Study of Factors on Multilingual Attitude of College Students in Minority Areas
Positive attitude and motivation are often mentioned as necessary for language learning and the development of positive attitude is often seen as one of the aims of teaching languages. To know what attitudes are like in multilingual educational environment and status of different languages is important. This study takes college students from Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture as the research subject, uses quantitative research and qualitative r…
