  • The impact of linguistic complexity on feasibility and reliability of language mapping in aphasic glioma patients

Open Access•Leonie Kram, Beate Neu et al.•ARTICLE•Brain and Language•2025•References: 52

BACKGROUND: Reliable language mappings require sufficient language skills. This study evaluated whether linguistic task properties impact feasibility and reliability of navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (nTMS)-based language mappings in aphasic glioma patients. METHODS: The effect of linguistic complexity on naming accuracy during baseline testing without stimulation and on the number of errors during nTMS was evaluated for 16 moderatel…

  • An Author Meets Her Critics

    Open Access•Hans Belting, P E Klassen et al.•ARTICLE•Religion and Society•2014•Cited by: 9•References: 21

In the fall of 2011, I was appointed to the Chair of Religious Studies in the Department of Religious Studies and Theology in the Faculty of Humanities. As I soon realized, my appointment occurred amid major transitions regarding the institutionalization of the study of religion at Utrecht University. This is part of a broader trend of renegotiating the space between 'theology' and 'religious studies'. This trend echoes a wider process of 'unchur…

  • Synecdoque et tradition

    Open Access•Bernhard Meyer, Bernard Meyer•ARTICLE•Histoire Épistémologie Langage•1993

This study presents the data of tradition on synecdoches. The genus has greatly varied in extension from one author to the other : it appears as a nebula of figures, the number of which, lending to increase with time, fluctuates around a stable focus mainly made up of the synecdoches of the part and the whole, and, to a lesser extent, of the genus, the species and the number. On the other hand, as regards the choice of examples, rhetoricians show…

  • A Clinical Study of Psychiatric and Psychological Aspects of Mitral Surgery

Bernhard Meyer, Bernard C Meyer et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•1961

Twenty-four patients subjected to mitral commissurotomy were investigated by means of psychiatric interviews, the House-Tree-Person Drawing Test, and the Inside-of-the-Body-Test. The findings obtained through the drawing tests presented few significant departures from those noted previously on random surgical subjects. Evidence of severe anxiety and various psychological defenses in response to the surgical experience, as well as manifestations o…

  • Rectal Resection: Psychiatric and Medical Management of Its Sequelae; Report of a Case

Bernhard Meyer, Bernard C Meyer et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•1957

A combined medical and psychiatric treatment of a depression consequent to a colostomy and an organic impotence following rectal resection for cancer in a 33-year-old man has been described. It is concluded that aside from the benefit provided by active and encouraging instruction in the management of a hitherto uncontrolled colostomy, a major component in the rehabilitation of the patient consisted in the establishment of strongly supportive rel…

  • Observations on the House-Tree-Person Drawing Test Before and After Surgery

Bernhard Meyer, Bernard C Meyer et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•1955

The House-Tree-Person test was administered to a group of 22 surgical patients before and after surgery. Brief psychiatric investigations were conducted at approximately the same time. The observations noted in this study have led to the following conclusions: Subtle or gross paranoid attitudes were readily elicited by the not infrequent refusals to participate in the tests. Striking dissimilarities between the pre-and postoperative drawings of t…
