Total flavonoids isolated from Fructus Mume (Prunus mume Sieb. et Zucc.) mitigate Parkinson's disease progression by promoting neuronal mitophagy via activation of the CaMKKβ/AMPK signaling pathway
FMF promotes neuronal mitophagy to exert the neuroprotective effects by activating the CaMKKβ/AMPK signaling pathway. These findings provide a theoretical foundation for the application of FM in the treatment of PD and promote the clinical application of FM
The long-term effects of adverse childhood experiences on adult health and behaviors
This study reveals a broad spectrum of negative health impacts associated with ACE exposure, with socioeconomic inequality demonstrating a significant mediating effect on these associations. The findings emphasize the need for public health interventions targeting both ACEs and socioeconomic inequality to alleviate the burden of chronic diseases and improve adult health conditions
Stress, Burnout, and Coping Strategies of Frontline Nurses During the Covid-19 Epidemic in Wuhan and Shanghai, China
Background: Nurses at the frontline of caring for COVID-19 patients might experience mental health challenges and supportive coping strategies are needed to reduce their stress and burnout. The aim of this study was to identify stressors and burnout among frontline nurses caring for COVID-19 patients in Wuhan and Shanghai and to explore perceived effective morale support strategies. Method: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in March 2020 amo…
A 4000-yr multi-proxy record of Holocene hydrology and vegetation from a peatland in the Sanjiang Plain, Northeast China
Effects of Pollen Typhae Total Flavone on Β-Arrestin-2/SRC/ Akt Signaling in Adipose Tissues of Type 2 Diabetic Rats
Background: Pollen Typhae total flavone (PTF), the extract from Pollen Typhae, a Chinese herbal medicine, has been reported to improve insulin resistance in type 2 diabetic rats, but the potential mechanisms keep unclear. Materials and Methods: Type 2 diabetic model rats were induced by high-fat diet and low-dose streptozotocin, and then were administered PTF by intragastrical gavage. After treatment for 4 weeks, insulin receptor-β level in adipo…
Holocene peatland initiation and carbon storage in temperate peatlands of the Sanjiang Plain, Northeast China
The Sanjiang Plain (SJP) wetland is the largest freshwater marshland in China. Peatlands were initiated early and are widely distributed across the SJP and form a large carbon (C) pool. Consequently, there is a growing interest in understanding past, present, and future peatland dynamics. Most studies on peatland dynamics have been carried out on boreal and subarctic region; however, there are limited data about peatland dynamics on temperate reg…
Effects of Simulated Heat Waves on Cardiovascular Functions in Senile Mice
The mechanism of the effects of simulated heat waves on cardiovascular disease in senile mice was investigated. Heat waves were simulated in a TEM1880 meteorological environment simulation chamber, according to a heat wave that occurred in July 2001 in Nanjing, China. Eighteen senile mice were divided into control, heat wave, and heat wave BH4 groups, respectively. Mice in the heat wave and heat wave BH4 groups were exposed to simulated heat wave…
Effects of Moderate Strength Cold Air Exposure on Blood Pressure and Biochemical Indicators among Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Patients
The effects of cold air on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases were investigated in an experimental study examining blood pressure and biochemical indicators. Zhangye, a city in Gansu Province, China, was selected as the experimental site. Health screening and blood tests were conducted, and finally, 30 cardiovascular disease patients and 40 healthy subjects were recruited. The experiment was performed during a cold event during 27-28 Apr…
Effects of Simulated Heat Waves on ApoE-/- Mice
The effects of simulated heat waves on body weight, body temperature, and biomarkers of cardiac function in ApoE-/- mice were investigated. Heat waves were simulated in a meteorological environment simulation chamber according to data from a heat wave that occurred in July 2001 in Nanjing, China. Eighteen ApoE-/- mice were divided into control group, heat wave group, and heat wave BH4 group. Mice in the heat wave and BH4 groups were exposed to si…
