  • Are Differential Discharge Criteria Used for Men and Women Psychiatric Inpatients

    Edmund G Doherty•ARTICLE•Journal of Health and Social…•1978•Cited by: 2

Complex digital circuits reliably work when the noise margin of the logic gates is sufficiently high. For p-type only inverters, the noise margin is typically about 1 V. To increase the noise margin, we fabricated inverters with dual gate transistors. The top gate is advantageously used to independently tune the threshold voltage. The shift can be quantitatively described by Vth=(Ct/Cb)Vtop gate, where Ct and Cb are the top and bottom gate capaci…

  • Structural Dissensus in the Therapeutic Community

Edmund G Doherty, Joseph Harry•ARTICLE•Journal of Health and Social…•1976•Cited by: 1

A common assumption regarding the psychiatric therapeutic community is that all ward staff must share in a consensually validated notion of what is wrong with each (Abroms, 1969). We present data on two related issues: the direction and extent to which staff consensusldissensus on patient functioning evolves over patients' hospital careers, and how structural variables such as occupational status and especially, shift-work, effect systematically …

  • Sex-Role Identification, Ability, and Achievement among High School Girls

    Edmund G Doherty, Cathryn Culver•ARTICLE•Sociology of Education•1976

This paper finds a significant relationship between a non-traditional, personal-fulfillment(masculine') oriented female sex-role perception and ability. With IQ controlled, however, the more non-traditional the orientation of girls' sex-role perception, the lower the academic achievement (class standing). Conversely, the more traditional the sex-role identification, the higher the class rank. Moreover, the data suggest a positive relationship bet…
