The V a KE Handbook
"Values without knowledge are blind, while knowledge without values is irresponsible." This principle underlines the motivation to write this book. It presents VaKE, Values and Knowledge Education, a theoretical model based on constructivist learning theories, and many examples for its practical implementation in diverse educational fields. Thanks to its extensive theoretical foundation, the model opens up almost unlimited possibilities to tailor…

The Lesson Interruption Method in Assessing Situation-Specific Behavior in Classrooms
The lesson interruption method consists in interrupting the lesson at predetermined occasions on which students respond to a short questionnaire about the teacher's or the students' behaviors. Some experiences with this method are reported; it can be a useful tool both for research on teaching particularly when the behavior is situation-specific and when feedback to teachers is desired
Contradictory Goals, Different Expectations
The lack of cross-situational consistency, i.e., cross-situational specificity has usually been treated as “error” in social sciences. A theory of cross-situational specificity is needed, and some elements of such a theory are provided here. Behavior is explained by the goals people have, the means they can use to reach the goals, and the values placed upon consequences. Based on expectancy-value models, it is shown how several different behavior…
