How Do Pathways Differ? Examining Gender in the Temporal Relationships Between Child Maltreatment, Teen Dating Violence, and Depression Among Adolescents

The effects of disability status and perceived neighbourhood cohesion and safety on adverse childhood experiences among college students
Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are early traumatic events that can have adverse long-term developmental effects on a person's health and well-being. Individuals with disabilities are at a greater risk of all types of ACEs. However, the impact of having a disability and neighbourhood context on ACEs is under-researched, and even less is known about whether neighbourhood cohesion and safety affect the relationship between disability status an…

Gender Differences in Intimate Partner Violence Victimization, Help-Seeking, And Outcomes Among College Students
Many college students experience intimate partner violence (IPV). Although receiving help from formal and informal sources may ameliorate possible negative impacts of IPV victimization, the outcomes of help-seeking are not always positive. This study used survey data collected at six universities across the United States (U.S.) to examine gender differences in IPV, help-seeking, and its outcomes (n=3,070). Major variables included IPV victimizati…
Geographically accessible immigration support and parenting services and child maltreatment
This study explores how the geographic proximity of immigration support and parenting services affect neighborhood rates of child maltreatment using administrative data from the U.S Census and child protective services. Spatial error regression results show that neighborhoods with proximal immigration support services have lower rates of child maltreatment, while neighborhoods with proximal parenting services have higher rates of child maltreatme…
Gender Differences in the Relationship Between the Nature of Intimate Partner Violence and the Survivor’s Help-Seeking
This study used the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey to examine how gender interacts with the nature of intimate partner violence (IPV) in the survivor's help-seeking. A total of 3,878 IPV survivors (869 male and 3,009 female) were included in the study sample. Dependent variables were help-seeking and the use of formal and informal sources.
