A National Survey of Children's Experiences of Parental Separation and Support Needs in Australia
We used a mixed-methods online survey to recruit 616 young Australians whose parents had separated, to understand their experiences and how to better support them throughout the separation process. Persistent themes included conflict, lack of communication and agency, mental health concerns, and feelings of confusion, frustration, loss, and grief. Some suggested it would have been useful to talk about reasons for the separation, their rights, opi…

Diagnosis patterns of sickle cell disease in Ghana: A secondary analysis
The lack of a robust newborn screening program for SCD in Accra, Ghana, leaves children at risk for disease complications and death. People in our sample were diagnosed with SCD in the acute care setting, and in their toddler or school-age years or thereafter, meaning they are likely being excluded from important preventive care. Understanding current SCD diagnosis patterns in the region can inform efforts to improve the timeliness of SCD diagnos…
Social Media Use by Young People Living in Conflict-Affected Regions of Myanmar
Since Myanmar's transition to civilian rule in 2011, the use of smartphones has exploded. The ubiquitous use of social media, in particular Facebook, has had a well-publicized dark side as a platform for disseminating fake news and hate speech. With poor digital literacy skills, Myanmar users are susceptible to disinformation campaigns and other online dangers, particularly young people, the most prevalent users. The current study collected bench…
A Scoping Review Identifying the Need for Quality Research on the Use of Virtual Reality in Workplace Settings for Stress Management
Workplace stress management is a growing problem that can have significant mental health and financial impact for workers and their employers. There is a growing body of evidence supporting the efficacy of Virtual Reality (VR) treatments for stress and anxiety, however no reviews of VR to date have looked specifically into the use of VR for this purpose in the workplace. This scoping review aimed to identify available evidence in this environment…
Factors influencing the choice of shared bicycles and shared electric bikes in Beijing
China leads the world in both public bikeshare and private electric bike (e-bike) growth. Current trajectories indicate the viability of deploying large-scale shared e-bike (e-bikeshare) systems in China. We employ a stated preference survey and multinomial logit to model the factors influencing the choice to switch from an existing transportation mode to bikeshare or e-bikeshare in Beijing. Demand is influenced by distinct sets of factors: the b…
Corporate Styles
Goold and Campbell (1987) researched large corporations and discovered that different parent companies behaved in very different ways. They examined the extent to which management styles varied along the dimensions of planning influence (i.e., the extent to which the corporate level became involved in the strategic and operating planning of the business) and control influence. Three styles seemed to stand out. In financial control companies (e.g.…
Delayering
There are lots of forces that encourage organisations to add layers of management. Sometimes they are necessary. But often they are not. Delayering is a way of reducing the number of management layers. It is a necessary activity every few years in large companies and there are an increasing number of tools to help managers delayer.
Mission
Large companies typically provide detailed statements of their strategic intent and their major goals in the form of mission statements. These are often criticized for their vacuity. But, before discussing mission statements, it is worth defining the term mission, distinguishing it from vision or values and linking it with other terms such as purpose, goals, and strategic intent. Campbell & Yeung (1991) developed a framework called the Ashridge M…
Parámetros Métricos Para La Determinación De Sexo en Restos Esqueletales Chilenos Modernos

Mltiples estudios han demostrado que los mtodos mtricos son especficos a la poblacin analizada y que son afect…

The reception of John Dee’s Monas hieroglyphica in early modern Italy: The case of Paolo Antonio Foscarini (c. 1562–1616)
One of the earliest Italian printed references to John Dee’s Monas hieroglyphica (1564) is generally considered to be in Giulio Cesare Capaccio’s Delle imprese(On devices), published in Naples in 1592. In the same year, however, another work was published, this time in Cosenza, in which the Monas featured prominently. Paolo Antonio Foscarini’s Scientiarum et artium omnium ferme anacephalaeosis theoretica, a previously unknown work, is a booklet c…
Internet Use and Loneliness in Older Adults
Use of the Internet by seniors as a communication technology may lead to changes in older adult social relationships. This study used an online questionnaire to survey 222 Australians over 55 years of age on Internet use. Respondents primarily used the Internet for communication, seeking information, and commercial purposes. The results showed negative correlations between loneliness and well-being. Multiple regression analyses revealed that grea…
