Forensic psychological examination of the child witness in cases of alleged sexual abuse
The examination of child witnesses in cases of sexual molestation involves complexities at psychological and legal levels and requires rigorous analysis and assessment to safeguard the rights and interests of the alleged victim and of the accused. Psycholegal standards and the role of psychological assessment in personal injury litigation
Conceptual and procedural aspects of the forensic practitioner's role in personal injury litigation are identified relative to the provision of evaluative, consultative, and court-related services. The Mental Health Team as a Differential Decisionmaker for Child Patients
The attitudes of a national sample of 774 clinical psychologists, 791 psychiatric social workers, and 581 psychiatrists were sampled in a closed-ended survey research format to determine: (a) the relative degree of communality there is among members of the mental health team in the dispositional judgments they render; and (b) whether differential criteria are employed for placing a child patient in individual, group, or conjoint family therapy, o…

Changes in Self-Regard, Creativity and Interpersonal Behavior as a Function of Audio-Tape Encounter-Group Experiences
This research examined the effects of self-directed audio-tape encounter-group experiences on dimensions of self/ideal-self-congruence, creativity and interpersonal need fulfillment. The Semantic Differential, Barron-Welsh Art Scale and the FIRO-B were administered to groups of college students. The audio-tape procedure was effective and results supported the hypotheses which predicted that encounter relative to control Ss would achieve a higher …

The research assessed the efficacy of encounter and marathon group experiences in inducing changes in perception of self and others and in personal and interpersonal dimensions of psychological functioning. Formulation and changes in attitudes toward the group were examined as well. Objective tests were administered to E and C groups consisting of graduate students in psychology. Forced-choice peer-nomination rating forms and attitude questionnai…
Reliability Study of the Defense Mechanism Inventory
Aims of this study are to replicate and elucidate reliability characteristics of the Defense Mechanism Inventory (Gleser & Ihilevich, 1969). College students (Men = 47, Women = 47) were administered the Defense Mechanism Inventory on two occasions separated by a 17-day interval. Whereas test-retest reliabilities for both the total and the women approximated the ranges reported by Gleser and Ihilevich (1969), the range of correlations for the men …
Openness to Experience, Ego Strength and Self-Description as a Function of Repression and Sensitization
The study sought to determine whether persons differing in defensive style (R-S Scale) also differ systematically in their degree of openness to experience, ego strength (Es), and personality functioning (ACL). Using 3 groups of college students, high sensitizers, relative to their more repressed counterparts, were more open to experience, differed significantly on a large number of ACL scales and were no lower on Es than median R-S persons. Find…

The Psychiatric Team as a Differential Decision-Maker with Child Patients
The decision-making capabilities of the psychiatric team were examined with focus on whether a sample child patient should be placed in individual therapy, group therapy, or be terminated. A survey research approach was implemented in order to ascertain the relative degree of commonality in dispositional judgments rendered by team members (psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers) and whether differential criteria were employed for these thre…
