Historically, social workers have been aware of the power of group resources and the importance of networking for their clients and for themselves as professionals. Managing Parents on Neonatal Intensive Care Units
This paper looks at how staff on neonatal intensive care units manage the parents of sick infants. The information given to parents is manipulated in order to obtain parental behaviors needed by the staff to do their work. The parental role desired by the staff facilitates quick application of medical treatment to the infants with parental consent.
