Creating the Right Environment for Design
A Prospective Study of Behavioural Disturbance in Children Who Subsequently Experience Parental Divorce
This study examines changes in children's behaviour as a function of parental divorce. As part of a large scale general population study on the effects of marital disharmony on children, 139 children from the general population were followed up from a previous study. These children and their mothers were interviewed first between 1979 and 1982 (time 1) and then followed up between 1984 and 1986 (time 2). Between the time 1 interview and the time …

Applied Micropalaeontology
Appraisive images of tourist areas
Personal construct theory was used to study the appraisive images held by tourists visiting the North Coast of New South Wales. In the first stage of the research, subjects produced a wide variety of constructs in differentiating between tourist places. This enabled the identification of six key evaluative constructs. In the second stage of the research, these constructs were incorporated into repertory grids that revealed how places were viewed.…
Tourism cognitive mapping of unfamiliar environments
Recent improvements in the digital design laboratory at the University of Michigan
The authors discuss the enhancements that have recently been implemented in the digital design lab course at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (USA). The purpose of the course is to expose students to the tools and techniques of digital design, so that all the basics skills needed for the design, development, and implementation of small microprocessor-based systems may be acquired. Novel laboratory experiments, project assignments, and lect…
