  • Historical Patterns of Regional Population Migration in China: A Novel Surname‐Based Analysis

Open Access•Xiaohui Fan, Xuemin Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Biological…•2026

  • A Study of the Spatial Correlogram Patterns of Chinese Surnames

Open Access•Xiaohui Fan, Xuemin Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•2025

OBJECTIVES: This study investigates the historical diffusion and migration patterns of Chinese surnames by analyzing their spatial correlograms. The primary objectives are to identify typical correlogram categories, characterize each category, and explore the factors influencing the historical diffusion and migration processes that have shaped the spatial distributions of Chinese surnames. DATA AND METHODS: The data used in this study come from C…

  • A study of the spatial distribution characteristics of Chinese surnames

Open Access•Xiaohui Fan, Yuan Gao et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•2024

OBJECTIVES: The spatial distribution of Chinese surnames is diverse and provides rich information about the evolution of human society. This study aims to propose several indices to quantify the spatial distribution characteristics of Chinese common surnames and to explore how these distributions are related to historical evolution. METHODS: This study uses data from China's ID information system covering 1.28 billion people across 362 cities. Ba…

  • In vitro tests to evaluate embryotoxicity and irritation of Chinese herbal medicine (Pentaherbs formulation) for atopic dermatitis

Open Access•Lu Li, Xuan Mou et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2023

Our in vitro tests provided preliminary evidence for safety of the formula PHF in embryonic stem cell test and skin irritation model, but PHF shall be cautiously used in pregnant women with AD. Further studies are needed to support its clinical application as an alternative treatment for AD, especially to the patients who plan for pregnancy or at lactation stages

  • Pharmaceutical comprehensive experiments combining simulated reality and virtual reality

Open Access•Hao‐Shu Wu, Xiaohui Fan et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Education•2022

  • Reduning injection and its effective constituent luteoloside protect against sepsis partly via inhibition of HMGB1/TLR4/NF-κB/Mapks signaling pathways

Open Access•Zheng Wang, Wen Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2021

RDN and its effective constituent luteoloside exhibited a significant protective effect against sepsis, which were potential candidate drugs for treatment of sepsis. The mechanism of antisepsis partly was related to inhibition of HMGB1/TLR4/NF-κB/MAPKs signaling pathways. The results provide an evidence base for the follow-up clinical application of RDN in treatment of sepsis

  • Water Quality of Inflows to the Everglades National Park over Three Decades (1985–2014) Analyzed by Multivariate Statistical Methods

    Open Access•Lei Wan, Xiaohui Fan•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2018

The Everglades, a vast subtropical wetland, dominates the landscape of south Florida and is widely recognized as an ecosystem of great ecological importance. Data from seven inflow sites to the Everglades National Park (ENP) were analyzed over three decades (1985−2014) for temporal trends by the STL (integrated seasonal-trend decomposition using LOESS) method. A cluster analysis (CA) and principal component analysis (PCA) were applied for the eva…

  • Network pharmacology study reveals energy metabolism and apoptosis pathways-mediated cardioprotective effects of Shenqi Fuzheng

Open Access•Jie Liao, Hao Cui et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2018

  • A pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic study of drug–drug interaction between ginsenoside Rg1, ginsenoside Rb1 and schizandrin after intravenous administration to rats

Open Access•Shuyu Zhan, Wenjing Guo et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2014

  • Reflections on Teachers' Conceptions of Teaching: A Case Study

Open Access•Zhiyong Zhu, Xiaohui Fan et al.•ARTICLE•Chinese Education & Society•2012

After the launch of the new curriculum reforms at the beginning of the new millennia, teachers were expected to transform their conceptions of education by absorbing ideas such as "dual subjectivity," "democratic equality," "scientific inquiry," "collaborative learning," and so on. What sorts of conceptions of teaching are manifested in instructors' teaching practices within the routine school environment? This paper will introduce a case study o…
