Navigating the Algorithmic State
As the public sector increasingly adopts AI‐powered automated decision systems (ADS), understanding how citizens experience and value ADS use in public decision‐making is both normatively and practically important. Therefore, we examine and compare the effects of seven attributes of public values on citizens' support for ADS adoption in two real‐world policy areas: healthcare and criminal justice. The results of an online conjoint experiment with…

Reward exploitation or exploration? The effects of local government sustainability strategies and performance information on citizen evaluation
Public Service Delivery on Mobile Apps
Public mobile apps provide a new platform to facilitate communication between the government and citizens. Especially, citizens’ engagement in the delivery of public service expands the discussion of mobile apps to coproduction. However, it remains unclear what public services are provided on apps and coproduced, and what factors affect governments to enable coproduction. This paper examines how local governments diversify public services provide…
Korean Adoptees Who Adopt
Little is known about Korean adoptees who are also adoptive parents and their parenting, especially related to ethnic, racial, and adoption socialization. This article describes a secondary analysis of Korean American adoptee adoptive parents (N = 7) from a larger study of Korean adoptee parents. The research question guiding the analysis focused on intergenerationality (participants' dual positionalities as an adoptee and adoptive parent) as an …
All hands on deck
This study examines the effectiveness of collaborative platforms in supporting local collaborations for natural resource management. It also explores how governmental and non-governmental lead organizations adopt differing collaborative implementation approaches and how these variations influence outcomes. Utilizing a natural experiment and a difference-in-differences estimator, we evaluate if the Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program funct…
Understanding Adoption as a Reproductive Justice Issue
Adoption is frequently invoked as a universal social good—an uncomplicated win for adoptees, adoptive parents, and birth parents alike—that obviates the need for abortion. As antiabortionists weaponize adoption to attack reproductive rights, psychologists must recognize adoption as a key reproductive justice issue with significant, lifelong physical and psychological impacts, especially on adopted people and birth parents. Recognizing critical ad…
Strategic types, implementation, and capabilities
The success of strategic plans is dependent on strategy implementation, yet little research has been conducted on strategy implementation relative to the strategy formulation stage. This article casts research questions on how organizational capabilities and resources affect strategy implementation, and how the implementation differs by strategic type. To address the climate change problem, local governments mobilize and allocate capabilities and…
Collaborative governance platforms and outcomes
Collaborative efforts across sectors, scales, and government levels have been effective in addressing the goals to reduce petroleum use and mitigate environmental issues in the U.S. While community contexts shape local collaborative governance, diverse local interests do not necessarily translate into collaborations without proper facilitating efforts. This study expands the theoretical discussion on the concept of collaborative platforms, which …
Expansion and Deconstruction of the Sputnik Myth in Current Russian cinema
Korean Adoptees as Parents
Objective Using a socialization framework, this study aimed to understand the intergenerational patterns of ethnic, racial, and adoption socialization practices. Background Understanding the impact of ethnicity, race, and adoption is a lifelong process for transracially, transnationally adopted individuals. Few studies, however, have explored how adult adoptees socialize their children on ethnicity, race, and adoption and to what extent this soci…
Hidden among the hidden
The parenting practices of both transracially adopted Korean American adults and multiracial families are often overlooked in developmental science, yet are important to address, given that the majority of Korean adoptees are now adults with families of their own and given rapid increases in the multiracial population. This qualitative study examined the cultural socialization beliefs and practices among transracially adopted Korean Americans who…
A language support program for English-medium instruction courses
Many English as a foreign language universities have increased the number of English-medium instruction (EMI) courses regardless of their students’ preparedness for them. As a result, previous studies have reflected the necessity of additional language assistance to students who have to take EMI courses with limited English proficiency. Drawing upon the results of preliminary needs and syllabus analysis studies, an EMI language support program wa…
