  • Measuring nuanced walkability

Open Access•Donghwan Ki, Hojun Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Computers Environment and Urban…•2025•Cited by: 1•References: 28

Recent advances in urban analytical tools, particularly street view image (SVI) data and computer vision (CV) algorithms, such as semantic segmentation, have enhanced walkability measurement by enabling the automated assessment of mesoscale features, such as greenery proportions. However, while SVI data contain rich environmental information, off-the-shelf CV models generally struggle to capture microscale features—design details attached to meso…

  • Electoral Continuity and Change in South Korea since Democratization

Jae Hyeok Shin, Hojun Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Asian Survey•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 10

The literature on South Korean elections has shown that voters’ region, ideology, and generation shape their preferences at the polls. Few studies, however, have investigated the long-term effects of these variables or the difference in the effects of ideology and generation between regions. In this article, we generate theoretical expectations of Korean voters’ voting behavior, analyzing cleavage structures in the party system since democratizat…

  • Presidentialization and Procedural Rules Change

    Open Access•Hojun Lee•ARTICLE•Journal of East Asian Studies•2019•References: 15

The common assumption of legislative politics is that the majority party structures procedural rules to suit its interests. In a presidentialized context, however, presidential electoral incentives prevail over majority party's incentives when voting on procedural rules changes and the threat of punishing majority-party defectors is not credible when those defectors vote with the presidential candidate. To test these claims, I analyze the case of…

    Open Access•Jae Hyeok Shin, Hojun Lee•ARTICLE•Government and Opposition•2017•Cited by: 9•References: 24

This article explores legislative voting behaviour in the regional party system where electoral competition is based primarily on geographic divisions instead of national public policies. An analysis of roll-call votes in the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea from 2000 to 2008 reveals that in the regionalized context, legislative voting unity is high because legislators are disciplined to receive endorsement from their regional champion …
