The Distributive Politics of “Compassion in Action: Federal Funding, Faith-Based Organizations, and Electoral Advantage
Incorporating race into tactical spending for electoral gain, this article revisits the relative effects of vote production and vote retention on distributive politics. Why do targets sometimes make concessions when third parties offer assistance? Both the extended deterrence and alliance literatures point to unreliable third parties to explain deterrence failure and target acquiescence. In Defense of Comparative Statics: Specifying Empirical Tests of Models of Strategic Interaction
Beginning in 1999, Curtis Signorino challenged the use of traditional logits and probits analysis for testing discrete-choice, strategic models.
