On the determinants of regional government debt in Russia

Propensity scores were used to statistically control for confound…

In response to the financial crisis that began in 2007, United States President Barack Obama signed H.R. 4173, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, into law on July 21, 2010. “Dodd-Frank” is intended to correct certain problems in financial markets by federally regulating the activities of independent municipal financial advisors and comprehensively expanding regulatory oversight over credit rating agencies. This article…

The greater efficiency and cost savings for the federal and most state governments have not been achieved without encountering and dealing with serious matters related …

State Government Credit Quality
Municipal (state and local) governments issue debt to finance capital projects and meet their cash flow needs. Most state governments issue large amounts of long-term debt on a regular basis. The state government share of outstanding municipal debt grew significantly from 1961 to 1992, from 26 percent to 38 percent (U.S. Department of Commerce, 1975-1996), with the rate of growth accelerating in the 1980's (Regens and Lauth, 1992). Accordingly, s…
