An Unintended Consequence? The Impact of Higher Education Expansion on the Retake Rate of the College Entrance Examination
High participation systems (HPS) of higher education (HE) are common throughout the world. The consequences of HE expansion has attracted enough academic attention; however, much less discussed is the impact of the HE expansion on retaking the college entrance examination. Factors influencing the retake rate of college entrance examinations
A region's retake rate of college entrance examinations indirectly reflects the difficulty of accessing higher education (HE) and directly affects the equity of HE access. However, factors influencing retake rates are less systematically investigated. To this end, based on the panel data of retake rate across provinces in China from 1997 to 2010 and a two‐way fixed effects (TWFE) model, this paper examines the determinants of retake rates in term…

Determination of Selenium in Common and Selenium-Rich Rice from Different Areas in China and Assessment of Their Dietary Intake
In this study, 41 common rice varieties and 211 selenium-rich rice varieties from ten representative areas in China were collected in 2017-2019. The selenium contents of rice were analyzed with optimized inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Selenium concentrations of common rice and selenium-rich rice ranges were 0.81-7.26 and 0.76-180.73 μg/100 g, respectively. The selenium contents in selenium-rich rice from different areas we…
