Open Access•Fabrice Murtin, David Pipke et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Political…•2026

In many countries, trust in institutions has eroded, undermining civic engagement, social cohesion, and political stability. This study analyzes the determinants of trust in government, civil servants, the judicial system, and the police, drawing on representative samples from six OECD countries (Germany, Italy, Japan, Slovenia, the United Kingdom, and the United States) between 2017 and early 2020. It employs survey data, experimental methods, a…

  • Contribution au débat sur la mesure de la performance de la gouvernance

    Wouter Van Doren, Zsuzsanna Lonti•ARTICLE•Revue française d administration…•2011•References: 7

Open Access•Robert J Gregory, Robert Gregory et al.•ARTICLE•Public Administration•2008•Cited by: 16•References: 4

Performance measurement is an integral part of the New Zealand model of public management, as it is for many other modern systems of governmental administration. This article examines data on performance indicators for the policy advice function in five government departments, for the years 1992 to 2005, to determine which types of indicators are used, and to gauge the extent to which they offer meaningful information about the quality of policy …

  • Accountability or Countability? Performance Measurement in the New Zealand Public Service, 1992–2002

    Open Access•Zsuzsanna Lonti, Robert J Gregory et al.•ARTICLE•Australian Journal of Public…•2007•Cited by: 2•References: 4

This article examines how output classes and performance indicators have changed between 1992 and 2002 in five selected departments of the New Zealand Public Service. Process, output and largely artificial service quality performance measures have crowded out outcome, efficiency and effectiveness indicators, across the board. Both output classes and performance indicators have been highly labile, though the reasons for this remain speculative in …

  • How Much Decentralization

    Open Access•Zsuzsanna Lonti•ARTICLE•The American Review of Public…•2005•Cited by: 6•References: 6

This article examines the extent of managerial autonomy middle managers in Canadian governments report in financial and human resources management areas. It analyzes whether during a period of intense government restructuring middle managers’ autonomy has increased or not and whether there are any environmental or structural factors that could explain the variation in the extent of managerial autonomy reported by them. Managers reported the most …
