  • Dynamism, use and reuse at an Irish portal tomb: Excavations at Tirnony, Maghera, Co. Derry/Londonderry

Open Access•Cormac Mcsparron, Brian Sloan et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the Royal Irish…•2025

Excavations of a portal tomb at Tirnony, Co. Derry/Londonderry in 2010 and 2011 revealed a surprisingly dynamic monument with evidence for Neolithic ritual. The excavation uncovered pre-tomb pits, a disturbed stone floor, and primary tomb deposits, containing Neolithic pottery, flint tools, struck quartz and possible hammer-stones. • Migration,Group Agency, and Archaeology: A New Theoretical Model

    Open Access•Cormac Mcsparron, Colm Donnelly et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019•Cited by: 11•References: 14

It was not until …

Cormac Mcsparron, Brian Williams•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the Society of…•2012

Much recent scholarship has been critical of the concept of a Dál Riatic migration to, or colonisation of, Argyll. Scepticism of the accuracy of the early medieval accounts of this population movement, arguing that these are late amendments to early sources, coupled with an apparent lack of archaeological evidence for such a migration have led to its rejection. It is argued here, however, that this rejection has been based on too narrow a reading…
