Open Access•Ethel Siew Ee Tan, Hong Ming Tan et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2025

These findings imply that task modifications such as utilising Likert-response options and the use of longer word lists may enhance the effectiveness of screening methods in both clinical and research settings, potentially improving early detection and intervention for depression

    Open Access•Hajin Lim, M Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Counseling & Development•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 2

School counselors in South Korea are prone to emotional exhaustion due to job demands. To develop effective interventions for managing this exhaustion, it is essential to examine the relationship between emotion regulation strategies (ER), such as suppression and reappraisal, and exhaustion. Using a daily diary method and the Random Intercept Cross‐Lagged Panel Model (RI‐CLPM), this study explored how daily fluctuations in ER and exhaustion inter…

  • Effects of surface acting on exhaustion of Korean school counselors

    Open Access•Hajin Lim, T Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Counseling & Development•2024•Cited by: 4•References: 3

This study investigated the impact of surface acting on exhaustion in Korean school counselors. Using the daily diary method with 223 school counselors, the study examined how maintaining a positive outward image through surface acting is related to job exhaustion. The results indicated that surface acting at both Level 1 and Level 2 positively affects exhaustion. Additionally, a supportive administrative climate negatively predicted exhaustion. …

From long-term follow-up, the incidence of ADHD was 1.17 times higher in the asthma group than in the control group. The incidence of asthma was 1.10 times higher in the ADHD group than in the control group. Asthma and ADHD have a bidirectional relationship, and childhood asthma and ADHD should be rigorously managed

    Open Access•Alia Fajarwati, Sukamdi Sukamdi et al.•ARTICLE•HUMAN GEOGRAPHIES – Journal of…•2022•References: 8

Time Geography is a boundary-oriented approach to understanding human activity in space and time. In this study, this concept is implemented to identify the daily activities of Women Headed Household (WHH) and their survival strategies in drought disasters and to understand their root causes through analysing capability, coupling, and authority constraints. This research starts to fill the gap in knowledge of the Time Geography in "Gender and Dis…

Stature and skeletal maturation in childhood, mature stature, and calorie and protein intakes were studied in two populations of British Columbia Indians. Although mature stature was similar in both groups, one population (Anaham) showed delayed stature achieved for age and delayed skeletal maturity in childhood, compared with the other population (Ahousat). Analysis of growth data suggests that environmental factors are probably the predominant …

    Open Access•Teresa Ghilarducci, M Lee•ARTICLE•Scottish Journal of Political…•2005•Cited by: 1•References: 1

The American workforce and the role of employee benefits have changed dramatically since the 1980s when economists seriously considered dual labour market models to describe pay and employment patterns. Then, dual labour market models described men's labour markets, but not women's and the tests applied to wages and salaries, not total compensation including employee benefits. Applying a switching regression technique using the 2000 Current Popul…

Subjects (N = 129) were randomized in three groups: to receive no smoking booklet, receive one written at the 5th grade, or the 10th grade reading level. Subjects receiving the 5th grade booklet showed 13 percent better comprehension than those receiving the 10th grade booklet, and 18 percent better than the controls. Comprehension of writ…

The article examines the role of lending rates, imports and growth on the duration of self-employment in Zimbabwe while the country embarked on trade liberalisation. The variables were selected because of their importance as policy variables in reform programmes and also their importance to small entrepreneurs. Previous research has established the importance of an initial endowment and other measures of human capital on entry into self-employmen…

  • Drowning Your Sorrows? Attitudes Towards Alcohol in UK Jews and Protestants

Open Access•K M Loewenthal, Josep Chias et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Social…•2003

Background: Jewish culturally supported beliefs may discourage drinking and drunkenness as ways of socialising and coping with stress. Thus Jewish men under stress may be relatively more likely to become depressed, and less likely to use and abuse alcohol. This study is the first qualitative comparison of Jews and Protestants, men and women. It examines whether alcohol-related beliefs are consistent with the alcohol-depression hypothesis, i.e. th…

The rare earth hydride YH 3- can be tuned through the metal-insulator transition both by changing and by illumination with ultraviolet light. The transition is dominated by strong electron-electron interactions, with transport in the insulator sensitive to both a Coulomb gap and persistent quantum fluctuations. Via a systematic variation of UV illumination time, photon flux, carrier density, and temperature, we demonstrate that polycrystalline YH…

  • The Singaporean response to the Sars outbreak

    Open Access•M Deurenberg-Yap, Mabel Deurenberg‐Yap et al.•ARTICLE•Health Promotion International•2005

During the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in Singapore from 1 March to 11 May 2003, various national prevention and control measures were undertaken to control and eliminate the transmission of the infection. During the initial period of the epidemic, public communication was effected through press releases and media coverage of the epidemic. About a month into the epidemic, a public education campaign was mounted to educate…

  • If It's Not a Tlingit Basket, Then What is It

    M Lee•ARTICLE•Arctic Anthropology•2006

In this article I describe a twined spruce root basket type formerly attributed to the Tlingit Indians but now accepted as made by the Alutiiq (Pacific Eskimo or Chugach Eskimo) populations of Prince William Sound and Kodiak Island, although a few were also collected in Sitka because of the frequent relocation of Alutiiqs during the Russian occupation of Alaska. The research was carried out in several European museums having early Alaskan collect…

Empirical studies on self-employment uniformly cite the high mortality rate in both developed and developing countries. Several studies on the entry into self-employment incorporate a savings constraint. Policy makers and international aid agencies have responded by providing credit to would-be entrepreneurs yet the mortality rate persists. We formulate a model of the viability of self-employment that incorporates the impact of cost perceptions a…

  • Shifting Boundaries of the Firm

    M Lee•ARTICLE•Social Science Japan Journal•2009

This book aims to account for changes in enterprise and union boundaries over time in Japan. In order to achieve that aim, it employs the Strategy–Structure–Institutions (SSI) framework, elaborated in Chapter 1. Sako, the author of this book, argues that the SSI framework is useful for addressing such issues as the question of how corporate (union) strategy affects its preferred structure; how the interaction between corporate and labor strategie…

An increasing number of studies in Western countries have examined the relationship between dietary pattern, namely the measurement of overall diet by considering the cumulative effects of nutrients, and the risk of metabolic syndrome (MetS). However, such information is absolutely lacking among Asian populations, including Korea, with different subject characteristics and culture-specific dietary habits. This cross-sectional study examined the a…
