  • Construction Mechanisms and Management Strategies for Win‐Win Ecosystem From a Multi‐Scale Perspective in the Wujiang River Basin

Open Access•Junyi Yang, Xiaoping Lu et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2026

Multi‐scale synergy and enhancement of ecosystem services (ESs) is one of the key challenges for regional sustainable development. To address the limitations of existing single‐scale management strategies, we innovatively construct a multi‐scale analytical framework. Taking the Wujiang River Basin (WJRB) in Guizhou Province, China, as an empirical case, the InVEST model is employed to quantify ESs and integrate spatial econometric analysis with l…

  • The relationship between parental technoference and malevolent creative behavior among adolescents: The mediating role of phubbing and the moderating role of mindfulness

    Open Access•Junyi Yang, X D Yu et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2026

The higher parental technoference, the higher level of phubbing, which in turn boosted the tendency of malevolent creative behavior. This indirect relationship was moderated by mindfulness, such that individuals with higher levels of mindfulness were more effective in buffering the adverse effects of phubbing arising from parental technoference, while also demonstrating an increased tendency toward malevolent creative behavior as a consequence of…

  • Depressive symptoms mediate the associations between air pollution exposure and anemia risk: A nationwide longitudinal study in China

Open Access•Yanqi Kou, Zhe Huang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2026

Anemia remains a critical global health challenge, affecting 24.3% of the global population. While air pollution and depressive symptoms are recognized as potential risk factors, their combined effects and underlying mechanisms on anemia risk remain underexplored. This study aims to explore the associations between air pollution (PM1, PM2.5 and O3), depressive symptoms, and anemia risk using data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal …

  • Chinese mothers use idioms in shared book reading: A predictor for children’s Chinese vocabulary growth

Open Access•Junyi Yang, Vibeke Grøver et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Child Language•2025

Idioms play an important role in language; however, little research has examined idioms in children’s natural language settings. This study explored idioms usage in maternal talk during mother-child shared book reading and its relation to children’s vocabulary development. Thirty-three Chinese children in Norway (aged 3;0–5;5) and their mothers participated. We observed shared reading at the onset of the study and assessed children’s receptive an…

  • Modeling the relationships among parental expectations, the home literacy environment, emergent literacy skills, and early reading comprehension in Chinese children

Open Access•Wenjie Zhang, Chang Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Chinese Writing Systems•2025

This study used the Home Literacy Model (HLM) to investigate the mechanisms underlying parental expectations, the home literacy environment (HLE), early literacy skills, and early reading comprehension in China. A total of 235 children (123 boys and 112 girls; mean age = 59.47 months; standard deviation = 9.71 months) and their parents were recruited. Parents completed a questionnaire on their basic information, expectations for their children's …

  • What else will I do when I start school? Preschoolers’ wh -questions in dinnertime conversations and their language development

Open Access•Junyi Yang, Joshua Fahey Lawrence et al.•ARTICLE•First Language•2024

While it is established that parental wh-questions, as a high-quality language input, are associated with child language outcome, less is known about the role of children’s wh-questions in their language development. This study examines whether children’s wh-questions during a dinnertime conversation are associated with their receptive and expressive language skills. The sample consists of a unique group of bilingual children: 32 Chinese preschoo…
