Intra-BRICS media exchange
In the shifting geopolitical relationships exemplified by the BRICS formation, transnational flows of media content, capital and human resources are already displaying new emerging South-South trajectories. In 2002, an amendment to the Constitution in Brazil allowed foreign investment in Brazilian media companies, following which partnerships with companies from the US and Europe were established. Media Use in Putin's Russia
During the past 15 years Russia has been transformed from a newspaper-reading country to a mainly television-watching country. Entertainment channels have increased their audience recently and regularly reach almost half of the population in towns and cities. Evoluo de lingvoscio en Eŭropa Unio
La artikolo esploras la lingvosciojn de loĝantoj de Eŭropa Unio surbaze de Eŭrobarometro-enketoj. Foreign News and Foreign Trade
This article presents the results of a search for relationships between news and trade in 33 countries on the basis of data from the 1995 international news flow study. The results prove that the links between trade and news are high in the majority of the countries studied, but there are some important exceptions, like the countries with a unilateral trade flow and a culturally oriented news service (Kuwait), large countries (the US, Russia) and…
Current trends in literary production in Esperanto
We can divide Esperanto literature into four historical periods. The first (1887–1920) was characterised by the important role of translations. The second period (1921–1945) was marked by the development of poetry and also, to some extent, of prose and drama. The third period (1946–1974), while beset with difficulties, continued the development started in the second period and made some new innovations, especially in poetry. The fourth period (si…
