A questionnaire-based survey on the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of Sars-CoV-2 infection in patients with chronic HBV infection and HIV infection
Background and aims Traditional observational studies have yielded inconsistent findings regarding the association between COVID-19 and HBV/HIV infections, as well as the protective effects of antiviral therapy against severe COVID-19. This study aimed to investigate the potential links between the current use of antiviral therapy and the rates of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and symptoms of infection in …
Exploring the relationship between teachers’ perceived workload, challenge-hindrance stress, and work engagement: A person-centered approach
The study reveals a complex interplay between teachers' perceived workload and work engagement, with challenge and hindrance stress acting as mediators. These findings offer insights for developing targeted intervention strategies to improve teacher well-being and performance
The dynamic developmental process of adolescent non-suicidal self-injury disclosure: A qualitative study
The dynamic four-stage theoretical model of adolescent non-suicidal self-injury disclosure developed in this study clearly delineates the stage-specific, cyclical, and feedback-driven characteristics of NSSI disclosure. This model innovatively reveals how adolescents continuously navigate psychological trade-offs and adjust their behaviors between shame, situational triggers, disclosure motives, and emotional experiences during the NSSI disclosur…
Chimonanthus salicifolius essential oil protects against endotoxin-induced acute lung injury via suppression of β2 integrin-mediated neutrophil adhesion and chemotaxis
Promoting job performance among teachers through work engagement in Hong Kong: The shared mediation model
Work can be demanding, imposing challenges that can be detrimental to the job performance of employees. Efforts are therefore underway to develop practices and initiatives that may improve job performance and well-being. These include interventions based on mindfulness, inclusive leadership and work engagement. In the present study, authors have presented an association of inclusive leadership and mindfulness towards job performance through emplo…
A Case Study of Instructors’ Explanations in Online EMI Lectures in China
The purpose of this study was to reveal features of instructors’ explanations in online EMI lectures in China. Through a mixed methods case study, the researcher examined the distribution and linguistic realizations of different types of explanations in the lectures of two online EMI courses and how the instructors and students perceived the explanations. The results showed that instructors’ explanations were prevalent in the lectures of both cou…
Multimorbidity Patterns and the Disablement Process among Public Long-Term Care Insurance Claimants in the City of Yiwu (Zhejiang Province, China)
This study aimed to identify multimorbidity patterns and explore the disablement process by utilizing the model raised by Verbrugge and Jette as a theoretical framework. This cross-sectional study used public Long-term Care Insurance (LTCI) claimants' assessment data of Yiwu city in Zhejiang Province, China, for 2604 individuals aged 60 years and older, from September through December 2018. Latent Class Analysis (LCA) was conducted using 10 commo…

Amoxicillin use during early childhood and fluorosis of later developing tooth zones: Amoxicillin use and dental fluorosis
Amoxicillin use during early childhood could be a risk factor in the etiology of fluorosis on late-erupting permanent tooth zones, but further research is needed
Standard back-translation procedures may not capture proper emotion concepts: A case study of Chinese disgust terms
We present data questioning the adequacy of standard back-translation procedures for investigating emotion states across cultures (Brislin, 1970). Our data indicate that the Chinese back-translation of the term disgust has led cross-cultural researchers to accept terms whose themes, goals, and motivations are more akin to the English term anger. Evidence is presented showing that, compared with the standard back-translation method, a more painsta…
Obesity and Dental Caries in Children Aged 2‐6 Years in the United States: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999‐2002
There appears to be no significant association between childhood obesity and caries experience after controlling forage, race, and poverty/income ratio. However, further studies are needed to better understand this relationship
Use of the Fluorosis Risk Index in a Cohort Study: The Iowa Fluoride Study
The FRI has advantages for use in analytical epidemiologic studies of dental fluorosis. However, the population prevalence estimates vary, depending on the index and case definition used. Therefore, it is recommended that consideration be given to concurrent use of another index (i.e., TSIF, TF, Dean's) if prevalence estimates are an important study outcome
Primary Tooth Fluorosis and Amoxicillin Use During Infancy
Fluoride exposure was the sole predictor of primary tooth fluorosis in a multivariate model. However, bivariate results suggest that amoxicillin could play a contributing role in the development of primary tooth fluorosis, especially for children exposed to lower levels of fluoride. An investigation of the relationship between amoxicillin intake and fluorosis of permanent teeth is warranted
