Tory-radical Feeling in Charlotte Brontë's Shirley and Early Victorian England
The moral issues that Charlotte Brontë addresses in her novel Shirley can be read as a Tory-radical exploration of the tensions and contradictions in early Victorian popular Toryism. Jobbing gangs—large groups of enslaved people who were principally hired out to dig sugarcane holes—were a crucial component of the British Caribbean slave economy. Identifying and Understanding Indigenous Ways of Evaluating Physical Activity Programs
Indigenous evaluation frameworks have not been investigated in the context of American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) physical activity programs, an important area given the relationship between effective physical activity programs and quality of life among these populations. To address this gap, staff members of AI/AN physical activity programs were interviewed to explore their understanding of and experiences with evaluation. Findings suggest…

Fiscal rules were supposed to provide a simple remedy for out-of-control government spending. They were predicated on a deep skepticism about the capacity of democratic systems to exercise fiscal self-control.
