  • WeCanWork study

Open Access•Natalie V Schwatka, Miranda Dally et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

Our study highlights worker well-being differences approximately three months after initiating cancer treatment between men with and without physically demanding jobs. There are opportunities for employers to support worker well-being, specifically those with physically demanding jobs. Additionally, male cancer survivors with physically demanding jobs may need greater support outside of the workplace. Future research with a larger and longitudina…

At a time when the Choreographic takes on a renewed sense of possibility as we adapt to the rhythms of an epidemiological model of society, dances of remediation, that collapse the distinction between interpersonal and infrastructural modes of sensing the world, offer, we argue, possibilities for perceiving and making sense of our changing lifeworlds (Bratton 2022). In this writing, we reflect upon an artistic research project that composed chore…

Open Access•Liliana Tenney, Amy G Huebschmann et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

The role of dissemination and implementation (D&I) science is critical to the translation of Total Worker Health ® into practice and to the success of interventions in addressing current and future implications for worker safety, health, and well-being. D&I frameworks can guide researchers to design Total Worker Health ("TWH") delivery approaches that use flexible implementation strategies to implement the core components of programs for employer…

Open Access•Carol E Brown, Lynn Dexter et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

The COVID-19 pandemic created workplace challenges for employee safety and health, especially in small enterprises. We used linear mixed-effects regression to examine changes in health climate, safety climate, and worker well-being, prior to the pandemic and at two timepoints during it. We also examined whether employees at organizations that had received a TWH leadership development intervention prior to COVID-19 would better maintain pre-pandem…

  • Profiles of total worker health® in United States small businesses

Open Access•Natalie V Schwatka, Miranda Dally et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2021

Our study demonstrates that employee engagement in TWH will be highest when businesses have a strategy for how they implement a TWH approach and when they demonstrate leadership commitment to these strategies and foster positive safety and health climates. Our results offer suggestions on how to use TWH assessments to develop interventions for small businesses. More research is needed to understand whether small businesses can improve upon their …

Our bodies, suffused with atmospheres, ancestors and chemical compounds produced by sunlight, are ‘meterontological' (Randerson 2018). We are the weather. And yet an apocalypse of the skies threatens the futures of our children. In this writing we propose a complex and nuanced alternative to the monolithic concept of the Anthropocene through intracultural and indigenous place-based performance incorporating sonic strata, choreographies of relatio…

For decades doilies designed for domestic interiors and produced in a time of economic depression have lain discarded, neglected, and abandoned. This article discusses the historical development, domesticity, and social change associated with starched mats or doilies in the shift from modernity to postmodernity. It first charts the modernist composite knit and crochet structures produced by combining the mathematical chartering and the complexiti…
