A Study of the Test of Supervisory Skills
In supervisory selection and development it is important to assess individuals' supervisory competencies. In a field study, the Test of Supervisory Skills was validated against a surrogate criterion of supervisory performance, based upon position classification and supervisory experience. Subjects (N=2406), workers and applicants of both sexes, were recruited from multiple sources, tested, and the data analyzed to evaluate the usefulness of the t…

Psychometric Evaluation of an Integrated Assessment Procedure
The identification of supervisory and management potential has been an issue of priority in personnel selection for at least the past 40 years. Consequently, a wide variety of procedures have been developed and researched. A recently proposed method is the Brush and Schoenfeldt (1980) integrated assessment approach. Such an assessment system was developed and implemented at a southeast steel plant. A multitrait-multimethod-multirater analysis was…
Individual Difference Correlates of Two Leadership Styles
The Leadership Opinion Questionnaire (Fleishman, 1969) is a 40-item questionnaire designed to measure two important dimensions of leadership style, consideration and initiating structure. This research provides evidence from one sample which contradicts previous results involving this instrument and technically does not support the view that these two styles of leadership are unrelated to each other or to other measures of individual differences
The Ghiselli Self-Description Inventory: A Psychometric Appraisal
A multitrait-multimethod analysis and a centroid factor analysis were used to examine and evaluate the measurement properties of the Ghiselli Self-description Inventory. The results support the use of the inventory and suggest the instrument can provide a relatively quick and simple method of measuring occupationally related personality traits and abilities
Note on Reliability of Peer Ratings of Classroom Performance
Duplication of a study of the change of internal consistency and temporal reliability of peer ratings of classroom performance as related in increasing amounts of interpersonal exposure time is reported. Ss served in five groups ( Ns = 6, 6, 6, 6, and 5) as part of a 6-wk. course in industrial psychology. Peer ratings were obtained on Days 3, 4, and 5 of the first week, Days 2 and 4 of the second week and on Day 5 of the third through sixth week.…

Analysis of Ten Criteria of Student Performance
A factor analysis of 10 student activity dimensions ( N = 48) yielded 3 factors named: social activities performance, structured achievement, and unstructured achievement
Peer Ratings and Leaderless Group Discussions for Evaluation of Classroom Performance
An attempt was made to evaluate the internal consistency, temporal reliability, and validity of peer ratings as used in a classroom situation. Twenty-six Ss were divided into four small groups as part of a 6-wk. course in industrial psychology. Ss designed the rating device along four performance-related dimensions. Ratings of self and group peers were obtained at 2-wk. intervals; intelligence and class grades were used as validation criteria. It…
